so people don't like K-State (and like Oklahoma, ku, nu) because we are posting things on a message board?

maybe someone else needs to re-evaluate what the hell they are talking about.

people don't like K-State because they don't like our fans. Negativity on this message board is a symptom of the problem. It's not the cause.

He worked his ass off for four years, and the end result is a bunch of supposed fans bashing his every move.

My thoughts exactly.  The guy had some fantastic games in his career and yet people want to forget about that and focus only on the negative.  I loved him as a player and wish everyone on the team had his work ethic.  There is a reason he earned all that playing time all four years of his tenure here, and if you think he was not Big 12 material, you are delusional.  Huggins was not impressed with him initially last year as he was coming off a knee injury, but he kept working as hard or harder than anyone on the team, and by the time conference play rolled around, even Huggins could not deny he deserved some big minutes.

What I really don't like is that current players and potential recruits see message boards like this quite often and when they see bashing of first class players like Clent Stewart in threads like this, they would have to conclude we have a really crappy fan base.  They would certainly be asking themselves:  "Why would I want to play for fans like that?"  Bashing on current or former players is not being classy.  I don't even mind booing the other team or booing the refs, but booing your own players or bashing them on a message board is just plain stupid IMHO.

I feel so ashamed.  I am sure KSU is the only fanbase in nation that points out their players shortcomings.

The point is that shortcomings are all K-State fans seem to talk about these days. It's not even done in a constructive way. How about thanking the guy for working his ass off to represent our university in a positive light? How about noting his achievments? His B-Ball career is over. You should thank him for his dedication to our school.

Here's another way to look at it. What if his son is the number one recruit in the nation some day? Would you encourage your kid to go to a place where you weren't appreciated, and were you were bashed by the people who were supposed to support you the most.... your "fans"?

Go read a Duke, ATm or MArq board today champ.

It's ok to be an a$%, that guy over there is doing it too.

Consistency is key. You are consistently negative. It's one thing to say; "man, he had a bad night". But to say "I'm glad he's gone" is a different issue all together.

I love my almamater. I love my teams. I am a realist and I see shortcomings in of the programs that I adamantly support. I often get frustrated at what I see on the playing field, but I don't bash those that I claim to be a fan of.

I didn't realize it until I left Kansas, but K-State fans really are seen in a very negative light nationally. Beyond the simple perception of Kansas as being backwater and hickville (that goes for ku too), they see our fan base as a bunch of idiots. When I was a student in Manhattan, I thought this sentiment was reserved for angry drunken Colorado fans. I was shocked to find out that among the Big 12 fan base, that position is reserved for K-State.

You guys come on here and complain about the east coast bias, Jason Whitlock, ESPN's lack of coverage, etc... Have you ever wondered why ku, Oklahoma, and Nebraska continue to get coverage from all of those sources? It's because people around the country really don't like K-State. It sucks, but it’s true.

This has ramifications for the teams you "support". It hurts any chances of rebuilding our football and basketball programs and to sustain success. Bashing those that do make the commitment to play at K-State only perpetuates those national perceptions, and it certainly affects whether or not some recruits decide to come to Manhattan. Therefore, you are part of the problem.

1.  Those teams get coverage from espn because they win.  I can tell you though that uk's impression is from the Bucknell and Bradley games, not from their sweet posts on message boards.

2.  I have lived in major metropolitan areas on the east coast, went to school with grads from duke, g'town, florida, unc, marquette, usc etc.  Not one of them has any negative impression of ksu except that we just went out in second round when we have 2 first round NBA picks.  that is negative impression.  not our failure to throw message board flowers at the feet of a guy who just played 32 minutes and didn't score a point.

Those teams get coverage because they increase viewership. They are marketable. They have a large fan base. We are ignored because we are a recent addition to the mix and have a small disliked fan base. Just like in football in the 90's, if we are lucky enough to remain  in some form of a national spotlight in B-Ball, we will still be criticized by the national media because we are not liked.

I hope your negativity makes you happy someday.

They increase viewership because they win.  This isn't hard, if uk went through even 5 down years they would drop off the map like Atlantis.  This state doesn't have enough sets of eyes to make anyone relevant.  If you really think espn bases its coverage on whether they think ksu fans are negative then I am kind of concerned for you.

I am not overly negative...great year for the Cats, horrible year for Clent...both on and off the court.
