Do you know why so many fb players come out of Tejas?  It's because the state is huge.  If you want to compare the kc area to the country of Tejas, go right ahead.

I have an uncle in Texas.  I'm sure he knows some people down there.  Maybe we could hire him.

1st PB, now your uncle.

I live in Texas, why not me?

We have an opening for an offensive coach on the staff and it would be nice if he has a Texas pipeline.

I doubt PB or your uncle fit the needs here.

Name one good player from Texas Phil Bennett signed.

Didn't he get Terry Pierce?  I think that might have been the only player worth a damn that he signed.  Him and Elliott were incredibly terrible people.  Although Elliott recruited Kyle Williams and Leon Patton (only two notables in 4 years).

No, he also recruited ell roberson and bishop.

Interesting, he was coaching at A&M when he recruited Bishop to KState.  I wonder if A&M knew that?

Then he went to tcu and OU to coach before coming to KState in 1999.  I don't think he had anythng to do with Ell either.

Usually defensive coaches don't recruit offensive players.

I was employing sarcasm.  My point was that we shouldn't hire Phil Bennett just because he knows people in Texas, which is what I believe your point is, also.  Sheezus.

"Name one good player from Texas Phil Bennett signed."

For K-State?  Terry Pierce, Thomas Houchin, Victor Mann, Derrick Yates.  He was also vital in keeping Josh Buhl and to a lesser extent Bryan Hickman on-board when there was some other coaching shake-up (Stoops and Venables leaving, Ryan never really coming).

Yes, and at the same time you could be recruiting 3-4 other states that total an equal amount of players.

I agree that getting some Tejas players would be nice but the uber-talent laden area of Tejas needs to be taken into consideration of the states size and the logistics and $$$ of recruiting there.

Remember that it takes longer to drive from San Antonio to the Red River Than from the Red River to KC.  And San Antonio isn't exactly butted up next to the southern tip of Tejas.

You don't even want to make the drive from Texarkana to El Paso.  Just going from Dallas to El Paso is a nightmare.

Didn't Bennet have the #1 Defense in the country in 2002?  If it wasn't for the defense in 01' having to bail the offense out all the time that year would have been a lot worse.

Yeah that would be a dumb move on K-State's part to get him, we don't need him, we're doing just fine with our Stan Parrish like defense.

I agree, let's all live in the past.
