You can't be racist and like basketball.
Supporting Jim Wooldridge was not "accepting mediocrity", it was "accepting sh*tty basketball".

4-12
6-10
4-12
6-10
6-10
6-10

Thanks.

Yes.  And my name is ksu_FAN and I was a Woolite.  I was part of the problem....

If Prince needs to go on a 7 game win streak (Wooly needed 14 straight and FB is about half the games as basketball) to start his 5th year to reach .500 at KSU, then we have problems.

I guess I don't really see the need for the repeated posting of this type of thread.  There are far more threads telling people to chill out and give Prince and staff time than there are threads demanding that Prince and staff be fired.

Very strange ratio at work with respect to these threads.  Something like this:

3 Give Prince and/or Staff Time Threads : 1 Fire Prince and/or Staff Threads

Seriously, nobody in their right mind would consider canning a coach who has had the most successful first two years in K-State Football coaching history.  I guess you can keep creating new threads telling people to lay off, but you're really just wasting your time, IMO.
Welcome back, Bill.

6-10 bball > 6-6 fball (in the big 12).
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

6-10 == 3-5

yes, and 3-5 plus 3 scheduled wins and a bowl loss = 6-6.

add in how bad the big 12 is at fball; 6-6 fball is easier than 6-10 bball.

wrong. the big 12 is a miserable basketball conference.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Honestly, do you realize that most teams are like that. Seriously...look at ku. They are 9-0, but how many wins over teams with a winning conference record?

0.

Texas?

0.

Good teams beat the bad teams, and go even with the equal teams. It's hilarious that people just assume if you are a top 10 team, you should have a .500 record vs other top 10 teams.
Here are the wins over conference teams with winning records:

93:  9-3 OU
94:  6-5 ku
95:  10-2 ku
96:  7-5 TT

That's it.

winning at fball in the big12 is fjucking easy compared to bball.

Seriously, Wooly was 20 games under .500 in Big 12 play going into his 5th year.*

So at half that, if Prince is 10 games under .500 in conference play going into his 5th year, we have serious problems.  That means he goes 4-14 in Big 12 play in the next 2 years and 2 games.

However, if Prince is even 18-14 or 17-15 going into his 5th year, I think we all have to be fairly pleased.  I'm hopeful for 7-5 this year, 8-4 next year, then 9-3 or 10-2 in his 4th year.

*What the heck was wrong with me?  Man Wooly was bad.

If all that happens does KSU keep Prince, dumb down the schedule, hopefully compile enough talent and hope all the moon and stars come together while playing the 106th ranked schedule with zero games against Top 30 teams after 9 weeks??

the records aren't directly comparable.  .500 conference in football is a decent bowl every year.  .500 conference in bball is nit bubble.

also, i still say wooldridge was a good "coach".  he exceeded his talent level in every year except massey's senior.

he sucked at program management and recruiting.

Don't completely disagree.   But 20 games under .500 and 35% after 4 years is pretty pathetic no matter what sport.  That's exactly what Mangino was years 2 through 5 after going 0-8 his first season.  ku's great run this year is really an anomoly in college sports even with their rediculously bad schedule.  Going from that bad to great under Mangino this year is not something that comes around very often.  Even the most homerish ku fans have to be somewhat surprised.

6-10 in bball sucks, it won't get you a sniff of post season, same with 3-5 in confrence.  4-4 in confrence generally has been good for 2nd 3rd place in the north, while 6-10 in confrence in bball is bottom 4th of the confrence.

True.  Although he was not a good recruiter, the really scary thing is Wooly actually improved the quality of player from what he inherited from Asbury.  But he did wacky things like sign Dramane, Ousmane and Sidiki...
