Realistically, all they need is a decent coach, and they'll be a contender soon.

No.  They would just stop caring.  Kind of like OU in the 90's.

There is no place like Nebraska.   ;)

Maybe TO told HP no on being the new AD.  HP gave SP the contract extension, who then turned around and gave BC an extension.  He has as much blame in this as anyone, and firing SP seems like a desperate move to save himself.  If TO plays his cards right, he can get HP fired and get HP's job.  TO has the clout to get this if he wants it.

Crazy rumors flying around that Callahan asked to resign today and told administration to F**k Off.  Almost certainly not true but LOFL at the thought of it.  Rumor (<almost certainly not true) goes on to say Watson takes over as interim for season and team mutiny reigns.

Can anyone confirm that Calahan actually said "Firing the AD is a big distraction to this football team" today in his Tuesday press conference?  Is he already making excuses for the next 5 losses? :whiteflag:

Yes, he said it today at his press conference.  He also said he would not consider stepping down (<pre-emptive strike).

There's a new sheriff in town.
ESPNs article on TO:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=3066312&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

"Perlman said Monday the athletic director -- interim or permanent -- would be charged with deciding whether Callahan would continue to lead a football program that has fallen on hard times."

Callahan is as good as gone.

Radio in NE throwing around crazy-stupid names for new coach.  Have mentioned Petrino, Petrino/Mike Stoops as DC combo, Marty Shot., Brian Kelly( :ohno: he's good), Leavitt ( :blahblah:), Leavitt/McCarney DC combo, Bo (God I hope so, he's a moron), Turner Gill (< Will be TO's choice LOL).  Most of these would turn the Corn down anyway but I like to listen to them get their hopes up.  I bet they end up with choice number 7 this time around.
