Anyone ever had Boulevard Zon (pronounced zone) beer?  It's some damn good stuff, but it kicked my ass last night.

Avalanche Ale by The Breckenridge brewing company is really good on tap, haven't had it in a bottle though.  I can't stand blvd.

    warm up the EMAW
Tallgrass Brewing Co.

They serve it at Auntie Mae's among others and it puts Little Apple to shame IMO.

Maybe it was the Sunshine Wheat I had before or the Cap'n & Coke I had after that I "couldn't let go to waste."  But I was messed up last night.  Daddy ain't used to drinking like that anymore!

What is a good beer you can get at your everyday liquor stores?  I'm ready to move up in my drinking career.  I like flavor, and lots of it.

Sort of sweet and gets you drunk: Bud Light, Busch Light

Not as sweet and gets you drunk: Miller Lite

Rocky Mountain Piss-water (have you ever smelled Golden, CO?) : Coors Light

Like your beer to have flavor but still want to "fit in": Rolling Rock, Sam Adams

You drink beer because you love the taste and you like to try new things: New Belgium, Sam Adams seasonal beers, Roadtrip throughout the Midwest trying all the microbreweries you can find.

Beer is your life: Move to Germany

Nebraska has some pretty good microbrews.  Some weekend you should pack up and go west down I-80 until you hit Kearney, NE.  Find Thunderhead Brewery and Platte Valley Brewery.  &@#%ing awesome, and if you go to Thunderhead, try the Thunder Balls.  Seriously

Fat Tire.

Unfortunately, New Belgium doesn't distribute down here, so I tend to overindulge whenever I make it back to Kansas.

Fat Tire is good, I think after last night Sunshine Wheat might be my new favorite of the New Belgium beers.

Hate anything Budweiser related.  Miller is yum IMO.  What are some other good "dark" beers?  I also like Corona of course, but don't know what else to drink so that's all I buy.

    The very best.
Has anyone ever tried "budweiser" before?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

If you like miller you should like Natty lite.  Budweiser is great but it gives me terrible hangovers.  As far as light beers (coors, miller etc.) budweiser is the smoothest.

might try goose island out of chicago stunner.  They have a lot of choices and sell a lot.

Give Negra Modelo a shot.

Newcastle is also good, and more likely to be found on tap.

You guys like trendy, over-rated beers.

Give Ommegang and Chimay a try.

Tallgrass Ale is the best dark beer I've ever had.

Not even close.  It is fresh and refreshing.  Not bitter at all and tons of flavor.

God love Kansas micro-brews.

I don't know if you can get it up there, but Abita's Turbodog (out of Louisiana) is my latest favorite.

Yes, Negra Modelo is a good all around beer.  Not too dark, not too light, just the right amount of sweetness, I keep my fridge stocked with this, almost everyone will drink it, regardless of what kind of beer drinker they are.

fixed it for you.

God love Kansas micro-brews.

The tallgrass is a Nut Brown Ale, which is cool if thats your thing, but it is extremely sweet. I'm excited to see what else he puts out, but that beer is not my favorite. I love Brown Ale's (Newcastle etc...) they provide amazing flavor and smoothness. As far as wheat beers they are rarely done in a way that makes them good, probably because they are light and buttery and everything that a beer should not be. Try an I.P.A., Pale Ale, Brown Ale, Stout... stay away from those light beers unless you want to switch it up.

had three or four 90 schillings while waiting on thai pizza at minskys this weekend. it is out of fort colins brew co and i forgot how awesome it is.

stunner, go to the library and they will let you make your own six packs. so just experiment and see what you like. the good thing about getting into beer or wine is that you just have to try a lot of styles to see what you like.

this time of year though you will start to see a lot of marzens and i would reccommend those, as you cannot find them on a regular basis throughout the year.

beer, beer, beer, beer.
beer, beer, beer, beer.
drunk last night,
drunk the night before.
gonna get drunk tonight:
like i've never been drunk before.
cuz when i'm drunk i'm as happy as can be.
and we're all part of the k-state family!

    AAAAAHHHHH AAAAHHH
Goose Island India Pale Ale is a great IPA.
Guinness draught is a super smooth DARK DARK beer, but one is about all I can drink and then I have to move to something at least a little lighter on flavor.
Widmer hefeweisen (wheat beer) has a hint of lemon and a great hot day brew, clean on the pallet.
Mexican beer!?!?  You do know where they get their water right?
Just like the Sam Adams commercial, stay away from anything in a green bottle, skunk beer sucks. (European hops)
There are many many good brews in most any liquor store nowadays.  I can get any of these locally in Hays, plus some others equally as good.  About anything out of Oregon you can't lose in buying.  Half the reward is the hunt!
