I had a 1998 Durango, but I needed something that guzzled less gas. Since the teens all now drive and have their own cars, I didn't need a big SUV for work and family. It's a great vehicle, low maintenance, and the powercat magnets look excellent on it.
So you spent $15,000 to save about $10 for every tank of gas you buy? That's genius!
That was a nice Durango. Brown was so cool!
Interesting. I paid $37,900 for the Durango when it first came out. It had everything including the leather seats, 4WD, third seat, etc. Back then gas was around $1.10 a gallon so a tank of gas was about $30.00. When I traded in the Durango back in 2005, the Equinox had just come out and I got the top of the line model LT except no leather seats and no sun roof. It was for $24,000. I can fill up my tank for about $35.00. My fuel bill has not gone up overall, but if I had continued with the Durango, it would have considering the cost of fuel, maintenance and insurance. The cost of maintenance on the Durango each year was running me about $1200, but this year, the Equinox has had only $200 of maintenance (changing of oil and filters), last year it was about the same. The only problem has been tires. The sport tires I have on the Equinox have to be ordered and cost as much as the Durango tires, but they are 60K mile tires compared to the tires on the Durango.
For my driving habits and business needs, my costs have gone down both in terms of maintenance, fuel usage and insurance. I'd say that I did a great trade.
So Jeffy, STFU.
