i think the ruling was that since Mckinney touched it, it's okay for a receiver to be out of bounds and dive back in for a catch.  idk .

my understandign is that if you are out of bounds..you can't be the first person to touch the ball. McKinney tipped the pass before the guy was out of bounds...then he caught it. Illegal touching....

but, McKinney was getting picked on by the back judge all night so I'm guessing that it was just a reflex at that point.

if you go out of bounds on  your own, you cant come back in and catch the ball.

if you are pushed out, then you are allowed to come back in and catch the ball.

i never saw the play to determine if the sjsu player was forced out, or went out on his own.
