we must not be satisfied with the football team.
We all know there's been a conspiracy. Only the failures have been recorded.
We all pay too much attention to Icarus, and not enough to his father.

we must not be satisfied with the football team.

Why?

(1) the realization that Auburn isn't/wasn't that good (doesn't help that the coach we threw tons of money at won down there)
(2) ku dominating the teams it's played (like it or not, that's part of it)
(3) The lack of consistency on offense
(4) Freeman's TO/TD ratio.
(5) Penalties (we were penalized a lot under Snyder, but were good enough to over come that, I don't think this team is)

1 - with wins over Louisville and @ West Virginia in the past few years it's rather obvious USF is a terrible program.  They have 20 returning starters from last season and will win the Big East...but Auburn is now terrible since they lost to them in a scrappy game.

2 - ku dominating air is impressive.

thanks zacker.

Seems like much ado about nothing.

KSU's 1-1.  Did you expect more?

Didn't say that Auburn was a bad team, just not as good.  You even said that yourself.  And with USF, it doesn't help that the coach that was our #1 choice has "wins over Louisville and @ West Virginia in the past few years it's rather obvious USF is a terrible program.  They have 20 returning starters from last season and will win the Big East".

As for ku, yeah, they haven't played anyone, but they've taken care of business.

I think the expectations went up after our "moral victory" at Auburn.

This is why I hate football stat whores, and people that love to compare scores and crap like that.

Haven't we taken care of business too? Or did business change when you found out that Auburn lost this week?

Not really.  Yeah, we won against SJSt, but were we really that impressive?  They're not half the team that a lot of people thought they'd be.  I mean, so if we win by 1 against Missouri State then it's okay because we won, or do you actually look at the performance of that win?

I'm looking at our record and we're exactly where I thought we'd be at this point with the exception of not getting anal raped in Auburn, Alabama.  Our team is young dude, consistency needs to be built.

Yeah, a one point win against Missouri State would be fine.  Why wouldn't it be?

As for ku, yeah, they haven't played anyone, but they've taken care of business.

KSU lead SJSU 34-7 w/ 7 minutes to play.  The Spartans were barely over 200 yards of offense and KSU over 400.  The 3rd and 4th string subs went in on D and gave up a TD.

Is 34-7 and perhaps 41-7 if we keep in the one's a few more times on both sides..is that taking care of business?  SJSU was horrendous in game one but still returned 15 starters from a 9 win team last season.  Teams do improve from week 1 to week 2.  I'm not saying I was thrilled w/ the game but "taking care of business"...we did.

I didn't think we "improved" from week 1 to week 2.  We ultimately won, so I guess there's the "improvement".  Defensively we looked a bit slower, made the same (if not more) stupid penalties that kept drives alive, and tackled fairly poorly.  Offensively, we did the same things we've done for a while now (going back to last year) which is move the ball to the red zone and then starting moving backwards, we turned the ball over, and really weren't that consistent.  Yeah, it's early, just our second game, and none of them have been against real patsies, but I really was expecting a better performance this past weekend.

Actually it should have been 34-0 or 34-3. How the refs and replay officials can't see the SJSU WR having his leg on the ground, out of bounds is unbelievable.

^more whining, but at least its about the refs...again.

KSU has always looked sloppy in these games.  Even under Snyder.  With the exception of fool's gold UNT, you really have to go back to 2002 vs. LA-Monroe to find a game where KSU was firing at all cylinders for an entire game this early in the season.

Should we expect this team to perform like the 2002 Cats, who were truly a National Title caliber team?

I think most of us while saying that we are only expecting 7 wins or so subconsiously aren't used or are in denile that we have slipped so far in just 4 years.

Plus, I'm fairly confident SJSU is much better than the usual patsies Snyder scheduled.
