Lucky Named Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week
Courtesy: NU Media Relations
Release: 09/02/2007

I-back Marlon Lucky was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Player of the Week.

Nebraska I-back Marlon Lucky quickly began to collect honors for his career performance in Nebraska’s 52-10 win over Nevada on Sept. 1, by being selected as the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

The award recognizes the most outstanding offensive and defensive performances of the week as selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Lucky was awarded the recognition following a landmark afternoon this past Saturday, when he pounded out a career-best 233 rushing yards on 30 carries for the Huskers and scored four total touchdowns. The North Hollywood, Calif., native’s 266 all-purpose yards led the way for 625 total yards of offense by Nebraska, the most under Head Coach Bill Callahan.

Lucky returns to the backfield for the Huskers next weekend, as Nebraska heads to its first road contest of the season at Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Heisman Watch..
Marlon Lucky, Nebraska, RB, Jr.

Last week: 30 rushes, 233 yards, 3 TDs; 3 receptions, 33 yards, 1 TD in a 52-10 victory against Nevada
Heisman-o-meter: All the preseason hype in the state of Nebraska centered around quarterback transfer Sam Keller, but Lucky was all the rage after the opener. The former five-star recruit had a game that Huskers fans had been waiting three years for. This could very well be a breakout season for Lucky, but he still must show he can run against the very best. His two other 100-yard rushing games? Nicholls State and Troy.
Up next: Saturday at Wake Forest

I guess I should acknowledge that it was a very nice performance... however, none of us should be bragging too much for a few weeks yet.

Still... Nevada, Troy & Nicholls State.  :billypopcorn:

It's hilarious to see other Big XII north schools come on this board and talk up victories over patsies after KSU just played at Auburn.

Nebraska rushed 70 times and only threw 26 passes.

Pat yourself on the back for the Walter Camp week 1 award, but it's glaringly obvious that the West Coast Offense is too complex for Sam Keller.

Your weaknesses will be exposed against real competition.

Who needs to watch?  Your run/throw ratio was almost 3-1.  That doesn't scream "avoid having Keller throw at all costs" or anything.

It's hilarious to see other Big XII north schools come on this board and talk up victories over patsies after KSU just lost at Auburn, choking away what looked like a win against a team with a high school offense, and proving again why they are indeed 3rd Rate K-State.

Fixed it for you.

lucky is the king of crap OOC opponenets.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
