So he's not slower than Kelly, he's just as slow as Kelly was.  But we agree on the less athletic.   :ksu:

depends on what you mean by slow.  Quickness in a short area or burst...he's fine.  And he has the physical attributes to both take on and defeat blocks and get to the ball.  Not sure what more we would want as far as a pure football player...he's just not an elite athlete, or has great size, or great speed.  But that doesn't mean he can't be a helluva football player.

check out the combine #'s for this LB.  I wonder if he can play?

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=15704

Plenty of 5-11ish 4.8 40ish LB's in the league.

I'm not saying Slaughter can't/won't play.  Being a poor man's Jeff Kelly (or even being comparable to Jeff Kelly) isn't a bad thing.

I wouldn't call him a poor man's Kelly just yet.  Give him a chance to develop.  The kid is 5-11 220 at the moment...he can shave a tenth off the 40 time and add 20-25lbs.  He's smart, instinctive, and can get to the ball.

Again, KSU fans overrate how good Kelly was...he was also surrounded by some very good players.

Kelly hit w/ destructive force and power...but that alone doesn't constitute a great player.  I would take Diles over Kelly any day of the week.

He's a slower, less athletic Jeff Kelly.

he is?  People have overrated Kelly's quicks and athleticism.  Kelly ran a 4.9 at the NFL combine.  I think he's probably very similar to Kelly though not quite as big of a frame.  Kelly was 5-11 250 and carried that weight pretty well.

I think key to a LB "quickness" is awareness.  If they recognize the play a half-second quicker, that is essentially a half second off the 40.  Hopefully his GPA smarts transfers over to the football field.  HS GPA doesn't measure smarts well IMO, but it usually will tell you how well a kid works and it looks like he will work hard.

I like this kid.  He's not as talented athletically as some might believe..just a very good football player.

Rivals, Scout.com, and ESPN Scouts, inc. all really like him.  None would consider him great but all consider him a good, solid prospect.

ESPN Scouts, inc. has him ranked the same as Spencer Reeves.  Obviously they see them as different players ILB vs. OLB but ranked just as high.

Now we need to add A. Brown, Reeves, and Jacquain(<--- my new infatuation ).

This is one of your better commits, may be your best IMO.  I like him, too.  I'm increasingly growing in the belief that high GPA translates to better player -- at least a heady one.

Donnie Edwards.

Are you serious?  Not so much.  Go check Donnie's NFL combine numbers.

Slaughter is three stars, meaning he'll be a starter within two years almost guaranteed.

Prince promised him the starting QB position.

Can someone please post a picture of him with his shirt off.  That's how I judge how good someone is.

Just saw the Hunter kid (two star DB committed out of Texas) who no one is talking about had a huge game last night.  Returned a kickoff 100 plus yards for a TD, blocked a kick, had 10 plus tackles, and forced a fumble.  He stole the show in a game that was full of more high profile 3 and 4 star kids.  My guess is he ends up getting bumped up in the rankings and he's another high gpa kid that has offers from all the service academy's.  Our recruiting class is looking better every day and I like the make up of these kids we're getting.
