Who's the top OT off the bench, Meyer?

Is Rooker still playing inside?

http://www.ksufans.com/forums/index.php?topic=14786.0

talked to someone who knows stuff . . .
starting tackles projected as Alesana and Stringer. backup OT is Meyer, top guards are Robinson and Meyer with a lot of competition pushing them, so someone else could step up.

More and more getting pumped for the upcoming season.  I was looking down our roster on kstatesports and I saw a couple of things that made me curious.  First of all, I noticed that Derek Meyer is up to 310 lbs.  That seems quite a bit more than his playing weight last year.  Does anyone know if this is muscle he's put on or just weight?  Sure hope that he can step up his play in the line, we really need to have a good line this year.

Did you take folks suggesting that Meyer is a backup on an OL that is a major question mark as a saying he's good?

Which folks?  Like how folks like Hatter had him prominently listed on ranking of all time OL?

Or, Poopley or Legore who thought he may be a starting guard?

Or YOU or Poopley who implied he was the third best OT?

I agree that our OL will be our team's worst unit (if that is what you are implying), but It looks ridiculous for you to know claim that a guy that folks projected to start at either guard or tackle (and at worst be the third best tackle) wasn't any good.

My list of him starting at guard was tallking about two years down the road and was in response to someone saying we wouldn't have a good o-line for Freeman before he graduates.   I don't think Meyer would have started this year but I do think he was going to be a key back up and had he stuck around he  likely would have been a future starter.  He was a pretty good young offensive lineman and one that we had a couple of years invested in development wise.  So I don't think there is any question that his leaving the team hurts not only this year depth wise but down the road as well.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

All the coaches raved about him, and he sucked during the year.  I think he was just somebody who worked hard in practice, nothing more.

I didn't imply anything, I asked a question.  And I had to ask because after Alesena and Stringer, we don't have much at OT.

If Meyer was a good OT, I wouldn't have asked.

And Hatter had Meyer as part of a unit, and that unit ranked ahead of 3 horrid lines and a MASH unit.  Not exactly proclaiming greatness for Meyer.  Meyer has played in FIVE games...as a RESERVE.

No one was pimping Meyer as anything special.  How you read that into posts is beyond me.

I'm willing to bet anything that Prince cleaned his locker out for him. There was an interview with Meyer on KC news a few weeks ago and the kid was gung ho for Kansas State and Prince.

In 3 years when Prince is fired and driven from the city limits in disgrace, we will all look back to the day he cleaned out Meyer's locker as that which marked the beginning of the end, except for the earlier days that marked the beginning of the end, and stuff.  :crybaby:

Actually, when Prince is fired, the same people who said that losing/kicking off all the players wasn't a big deal, will then say that it was, in fact, a big deal and showed Prince didn't know what the hell he was doing.

Hey, I am not getting in your gym shorts on this one....just pointing out that many on this board (and other boards) had at least some notion of Meyer being a decent player.  You just happend to serve as an example....I mean, you wouldn't have suggested Meyer as an option to be the first OT alternate if you didn't think he was at least better than the other OT candidates, would you?
