Because all critics love comedies like this... Most comedies never go really well with critics. They may be enjoyable, but they'll never win any awards.

As for the movie, it was better than I expected. Sandler/James was a pretty good duo. I kinda wished James got a little more airtime, but Jessica Biel's ass stole the show.

Was there more outside of the famous bikini scene?  :lick:  :hope:
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Not true with RT ().

For example, Knocked Up clocked in at 91%; Hot Fuzz at 90%.

And that's also because Knocked Up is &@#%ing hilarious. 2 hour & 45 minute movie, but wanted it to keep on going, very good movie.

Also, cant wait until Superbad comes out next month, also by Apatow.

Billy Madison was a bad movie, too.

Little Miss Sunshine is another comedy that got great reviews.

And LOL @ it now being 14%.

PS. Anyone that would bend over for the administration to shove a parking garage down it has a GREAT taste in architecture.

Rusty- Little Miss Sunshine and other similar comedies are not the comedies I was referring to. I was referring to Sandler type comedies that never win awards, but are ok for a quick laugh. Not trendy indy comedies that are the fad to like.

LOL @ calling Little Miss Sunshine a "trendy indy comedy".

# Little Miss Sunshine had the highest per theater average gross of all films shown in the United States every day for the first 16 days of its release.

40 Year Old Virgin is another great example - 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Maybe critics only like non-crappy comedies?

TOMATOMETER
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

What is the Tomatometer?
The Tomatometer measures the percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who recommend a certain movie -- or the number of good reviews divided by the total number of reviews.

A good review is denoted by a FRESH tomato. Fresh

A bad review is denoted by a ROTTEN tomato. Rotten

In order for a movie to receive an overall rating of FRESH, the reading on the Tomatometer for that movie must be at least 60%. Otherwise, it is ROTTEN.

Who are the Approved Tomatometer Critics?
The Approved Tomatometer Critics are critics that fit within a set of standards - mostly from accredited media outlets and online film societies. You can click here for our criteria. We use the same list of critics to evaluate each movie. This way, we can insure that the Tomatometer is consistent and unbiased. This also prevents studios or fans from affecting the Tomatometer by submitting only positive reviews to us from sources not on our approved Tomatometer list.

So why doesn’t this movie have a Tomatometer rating?
A movie must have a minimum of five ratings from Approved Tomatometer Critics in order to have a Tomatometer reading. Unfortunately, a lot of older movies don’t have Tomatometers because those critics simply weren’t around back then. We’re working on fixing this, so you will get a large selection of movies that have Tomatometers.

Why don't you guys have a mixed rating?
Why doesn't Ebert&Roeper have a rating with the thumb pointing sideways? For us, it's simplicity mainly. We do keep the original ratings (star, letter grade, numeric) for each review in our database, so maybe sometime in the future we'll have a feature that lets users convert the ratings to any rating system they prefer.

Why does a movie with over 50% on the Tomatometer still have a rating of ROTTEN?
In order for a movie to receive an overall rating of FRESH, the reading on the Tomatometer for that movie must be at least 60%. Otherwise, it is ROTTEN. Why 60%? We feel that 60% is a comfortable minimum for a movie to be recommended.

Which movie has the highest/lowest reading on the Tomatometer?
Another question for the Tomato Picker. Click here for a list of the best of the best (movies with a Tomatometer of 100%). Click here for a list of the worst of the worst (movies with a Tomatometer of 0%).

Borat was kind of dumb. I was pretty dissapointed after seeing that one after I had watched the show on HBO.

Chasing Amy was awesome, but not because it was funny, IMO.

The "dumb" comedies that come to my mind that are loved by all are the Will Ferrell/Ben Stiller crapfests.  I could sit through those movies and not laugh at all.

Here's some "dumb" comedies that got over 90% on RT:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/incredibles/

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/borat/

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/school_of_rock/

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dazed_and_confused/

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/chasing_amy/ (debatable - may require intelligence)

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/city_slickers/

Most of those are classics- Not some random popcorn flick I deemed just alright. Most of the comedies (the goofy ones, atleast) by Sandler are usually <50%. They're not that warmly received by most reviewers as they are seen as what they are- mediocre to poor films that many find as an enjoyable popcorn flick.

The fact you took the time out to put together this list in order to, well, agree with me is kind of sad. Are you bored at work, like me?

Now that I look, only two Sandler films are fresh, and neither are comedies. Yet many are found to be enjoyable by most. See how this works, Koug? A bad film doesn't always equal not enjoyable.
