They've figured out what causes the red lights. 90% of the 360s that have the problem were plugged into surge protectors. The power supply on the 360 couldn't handle the drop in voltage from the surge protector when there was a surge and it would cause the 360's power supply to overheat. My 360 is currently getting fixed after a year of play due to the problem. I'm not too concerned that it will need to be again since they've figured out what's causing it. As for the CD tray errors and the rest of that crap, that's just standard defects that would come with any electronic device.

I'm sorry if your friend is a dumbass for moving the 360 with the disc in the tray. You should probably find smarter friends.
