Don't worry, though asava. Rusty thinks that anyone who is critical about music is a hipster.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
Damn, how could I forget Pabst's and Parliaments?

I would add faded black jeans somewhere in there.
If you play this game at almost any Granada or Liberty Hall show, you can almost black out the card in the first half-hour.
Played it for the first time at the last show I went to. Scary accurate.

I live across the street from a house of KCAI students, I could probably get a blackout from my front porch on a Saturday night.

For transportation:

A) Brand new car (Honda FIT or Scion or something similar)
B) Moped
C) Minivan.  God, they love minivans

Don't worry, though asava. Rusty thinks that anyone who is critical about music is a hipster.

It's a pretty fair generalization, really.  Most non-hipsters who appreciate non-mainstream music usually just STFU and enjoy themselves.

i went to the AI for one year.

once the kids realize they arent 'individuals' anymore, they quit the phase.

That's what's hilarious.  There's a steady stream of people in and out, and I can't tell any of them apart because they all look exactly the same.

Living across from KCAI gives you a moderate bias. But I can imagine that blacks the card out pretty quickly.
My all-time hipster favorites are the old school argyle sweater and the guy who quotes Kerouac repeatedly.
Agreed on the record bar, Chupa. Fun place.

Really? This is a trend I had missed. I thought the classics were anything VW and Scions for the faux hipsters that the real hipsters hate.

Discussing music and being a dick to someone who likes Death Cab for Cutie are two different things.

I should add that I have good friends who went to KCAI, it's just the ones across the street from me that are kind of DB's that avoid eye contact with non-hipsters.

I probably should have put minivans first - they're getting pretty popular.  But definitely a lot of pretty new cars.  Art school ain't cheap, you know.

That's not kind of d-baggy, that's outright schmucksville. So am I to glean that you think that I, too am a hipster?

I kind of lied - I only really have one good friend, but he has friends I like.

LOL @ a hipster real estate agent.  No effing way.  Aren't you a Shins fan, too?  LMAO.

Don't forget to use the White Album as evidence that you can like popular music.

There are hipsters that will actually tell you they like any the Beatles' releases? I'm not convinced we're running into the same folks, Rusty.

It has to be the White Album or Sgt. Peppers.  That's all that's allowed.  They need something to prove that they don't hate all music with significant commercial success!

I had always figured hipster code was to dismiss all their albums.
FWIW, Revolver, Help!, Sgt. Peppers, Let It Be, White Album....all good albums.

Anybody but asava and myself like Tom Waits?

BTW, real hipsters don't go to the Record Bar, they go to top-secret shows at the old post office or somewhere else in the Bottoms.
