there's an old saying that i always say about the game of tennis and it goes something like this...
Quote from: pissclams
tennis is for pussies

i lol'd

although i dare you to stand on the other side of the net and try and hit my serve back to me. and i can barely top 105 mph. imagine the pro's on average at 120 mph first and the second around 100 mph. not to mention every forehand reaches about 80mph or more. tennis is a mans version of baseball. this is why we dominate at softball.
i accept your dare.  please meet me at the plaza tennis center on 47th Street and JC Nichols Parkway @ 8:00 tonight.  please also bring an extra racket for me to use when i melt your serve back into your forehead.

    he's baaaack!

Man, is anything funnier than an amateur music snob bragging about how his rad tennis skills make him awesome in softball?

I would guess no.

i didn't realize many music snobs got paid, thus becoming a proffessional. although, i don't really care, nice one. you probably are all that i am not, which is everything i strive to be and everything that is man. sorry if you are sore about me for saying you had a sandy vagina. looking back on it you were the least deserving of the menstraul post. although i don't really care about appeasing "internet lord" who i'll never know.  have a good one, douchebag.

asava, you're kidding right. You don't know where the plaza tennis center is?

wtf dude. That's like the heart of Missouri Valley Tennis.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Seriously, no self-respecting music expert would waste their breath belittling someone that listens to 311 or Nickelback.  Wait until they start talking about the Garden State soundtrack before you go for the kill.*

if they wouldn't have said anything about 311 being better than the beatles or black sabbath i would have had no quarrels. but i agree totally about the garden state soundtrack.

I'm not a big fan of music snobs.  I mean, people listen to what they like.  Of course bands like KORN, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park are trash but who am I to say that?  I listen to Frank Zappa and the mothers of invention.

Adding to the "softball playing douche" thread from a while back:

is one a bigger or lesser douche for playing competitive fast-pitch softball?

the levels of doucheness for softball are complex.

Where does the music snob tennis pro wearing an ironic thrift store t-shirt fit into the softball douchieness scale?

for that you get a breakdown of the forehand.

Step 1: Ready Position
Step 2: get into position by turning and pointing your left shoulder at the ball while moving to where the ball is in reach and about waist level, while bringing your racket back.
---Remember to bring your racket back low, about or a little lower than hip level
Step 3. Step forward with your left foot, moving your weight forward from your back foot, driving your hips into the ball, once you step you should start your swing.
Step 4: contact point, you should meet the ball right out in front of your hip, with all your weight behind your racket.
step 5: follow through, make sure to finish up at your shoulder, but let this happen naturally, don't lift your swing.

things to remember: swing = low to high
contact point must be just in front of hips
                            your step starts your swing
smaller steps to get into position

if you want it to go fast you normall have to use some sort of spin to draw it back into the court, otherwise the ball will fly.

and i don't know if i want to explain that. things like this are hard over the internet. but my best advice is just practice, practice practice. doing the fundamentals over and over again.

ha, its a good thing i don't play fast-pitch.. that crap is dumb, i enjoy the slow pitch with a few beers, and i don't play it competitively, just intramurals. nor do i shop at thrift stores, or wear ironic shirts. i think you have a pretty funny thought on who i am though. i hate image when it comes to music, i hate people that make music an image, and i get pissed off at people who wear white belts or wear girls jeans for absolutely no reason besides style points. i stopped going to shows a long time ago because of these shadowboxing douchebags.

haha. yeah that is pretty much where it is at if i'm going for that speed. most of the time i just hit a topspin, or take a bit off. sometimes i'll switch to a kick first serve and put a bit more on it than i do for my second. how bout you, what do you start with?

The really good players did kick serves for 2nd serves only. If they were serving to the "ad" side, they would serve to my backhand then rush the net and easily put away my pathetic return.

damn those Kansas city/Oklahoma City/St. Louis players. Beasts. And they were never nice to me.  :crybaby: :crybaby:

If you play this game at almost any Granada or Liberty Hall show, you can almost black out the card in the first half-hour.
Played it for the first time at the last show I went to. Scary accurate.
