NCAA Football comes out next week. I sold my 360 earlier in the year - long story.

Now I'm in the market for something new. Which route do I go? I liked the 360, but I generally never warmed to the Microsoft factor. I've usually been PlayStation loyal, but that price tag - coupled with the lag in launch time - has been a bit too much to swallow. And while I'm impressed by the cuteness of the Wii, I expect more of my gaming console, graphically-speaking.

Thoughts?

    Hey, basketball!!!
Wow, NCAA football on Wii, how's that supposed to work??? Just got a Wii about 4 weeks ago, I think I'll rent it on Wii before I buy it for that console.

I'm buying it on ps2 for sure though.

But to answer your question, I would have to say ps3 since I've already played that and it's great. I'll have to rent ncaa football on Wii before I'll start suggesting it. Wonder what the graphics will be like on Wii???

I have a wii, it's fun w/ the wii sports game it comes w/ but w/ everything else it sucks miserably. It's good to have if there are people over and you want to have a good time. Don't get it though because sports games especially suck on it, and the graphics blow. I can't afford the xbox 360 or the ps3 so idk. I've played both and I like the ps3 better but the price tag is  :bs:.   Jeff get the old school super nintendo. get mario and DK and you're good. and get madden 95 and dominate w/ the nigerian nightmare. Chiefs kick ass in that game.

KSUCats, here's something you might find interesting:

EA INTRODUCES A NEW WAY TO PLAY -- EA SPORTS FAMILY PLAY --
ON THE WII IN MADDEN NFL 08, NBA LIVE 08 AND FIFA SOCCER 08

EA SPORTS Family Play Simplifies Controls
to Enable Fans of All Ages and Skill Levels to Play Together

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 5, 2007 – Watch out sports fans, the playing field has been leveled!  Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) has made it easier for players of all ages and skill levels to play its most popular EA SPORTS™ games on the Wii™ through the all-new EA SPORTS™ Family Play style of gameplay. Debuting in the Wii versions of Madden NFL 08, NBA LIVE 08 and FIFA Soccer 08, EA SPORTS Family Play is a new way to play that enables players of all abilities to play with their friends and family without a competitive disadvantage.  Advanced controls are also available for more experienced players, providing two compelling ways to play, and ensuring everyone can enjoy playing EA SPORTS games on the Wii together.

In the main game of Madden NFL 08, NBA LIVE 08 and FIFA Soccer 08, players have the choice to play the style that best suits their skills. When entering a contest, players now have the option to choose Advanced or Family Play. Once in the game, Advanced users take complete control of all aspects of the gameplay through intuitive Wii gestures using both the Nunchuk and Wii remote.  EA SPORTS Family Play offers a simplified control system using just the Wii remote that enables novice players to focus on having fun while the console does the rest.  With the Wii remote in hand, players control key actions – such as shooting, passing, snapping, and throwing – while the console controls the rest. It’s like having an invisible helper on your team.  Plus, as novice players gain confidence in their ability they can gradually begin to use Advanced controls simply by plugging in the Nunchuk. It’s that easy.

“EA SPORTS Family Play on the Wii creates an incredibly accessible and user-friendly experience that the whole family will enjoy,” said Dave McCarthy, Executive Producer for the three games developed at EA Canada.  “While many fans love to control every piece of the action, novice players can have just as much fun jumping in to throw a touchdown pass, nail a three pointer or take a shot on goal.  Family Play brings together fans of all ages to enjoy playing EA SPORTS games, and even let’s them ease in to Advanced play if they desire.”

The following three EA SPORTS games feature EA SPORTS Family Play:

Madden NFL 08 on the Wii
Anyone can play like a pro in Madden NFL 08, whether a new user or a long time fan. Play with only the Wii remote with EA SPORTS Family Play or use the Wii remote and nunchuck for more advanced controls; the decision is yours. Featuring an all-new Party Mode, play trivia or chose from 22 different mini-games. Break down plays and highlight key moments with all-new Madden NFL 08 telestrator. Bring the game online, play head to head with friends and keep up to date with the live sports ticker for the ultimate online experience.

NBA LIVE 08 on the Wii
When the game is on the line and the ball is in your hands, what will you do? Will you penetrate the lane and rise above the rim for a monster slam, or find an opening around the perimeter and sink the game-winning basket? Jump in on the NBA action with EA SPORTS Family Play that gives every user the opportunity to enjoy success in NBA LIVE 08. You control your team’s shooting, passing, and steals on defense with the Wii remote, and leave the rest up to the AI. If you’re already a pro, use both the Wii remote and nunchuck for more advanced controls.

FIFA Soccer 08 on the Wii
The whole family can play FIFA Soccer 08 with a flick of the wrist. Play the traditional and authentic way or in a new party mode called Footii Party with Ronaldinho where you can play Juggling, Table Soccer or Boot It with your own Mii characters to unlock a customized Ronaldinho character to take on the champ. The in-game Soccer Academy makes it easy to learn the basic and FreeMotion™ advanced controls in more than 30 interactive tutorials, or let the game give you an assist with EA SPORTS Family Play. EA’s award-winning Interactive Leagues online play is also featured.

Your whole job revolves around getting college athletes to discuss their lives, interests, thoughts, etc. with you.  You can't do that effectively without being well versed in all of the various video games that they spend most of their time playing.

Get all three and put it on the Eagle's bill.

60GB PS3 is supposed to drop to $500 within the next couple of weeks making it far and away a better investment with a blu-ray victory over hd-dvd looming.

Also, the PS3 won't melt internally like the 360.  The failure rate is less than %1 whereas 360's are dropping right and left.

On the contrary, my friend. The wedding is about two months away, so I'm going to be there quite a bit, I fear. But I still have to do something during the down time. You can come over and play, though. I'll let you be K-State. I haven't decided who I'm going to be this year yet.

Honestly, none of them are worth it. They're lacking in games worth the purchase.

Just roll out the old N64 for some fun when friends are over.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Sounds like the EA sports games on Wii have the chance to actually be fun when playing by yourself.  :peek:

I'm in the process of making the same decision.  The few times I've played games on the Wii, they were fun, but I'm not into Zelda type games, and I'm not sure I can justify $250 for Wii Sports type games.

I'll probably end up getting a PS3 eventually....

You think blu-ray is going to emerge victorious? Interesting...

I agree with you about the 360. Mine hummed uncontrollably, which is part of the reason I got rid of the thing. But when is the PS3 going to drop in price? I'm not ponying up $600 or whatever the hell it costs right now. No chance.

Yes, the movies are outselling hd-dvd 2:1 right now.

I'm hearing July 15 on the price drop to $500 for the PS3.  That's ridiculous for this piece of hardware.  A standalone blu-ray player will cost you that much itself, so its really an awesome deal.  The games are on their way too (Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XII, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, the list goes on)

BTW, Playstation online network is FREE.  No $50 a year or whatever like Xbox Live.

It's funny. The only thing - and yes, it's a major thing - anyone ever says bad about the PS3 is the price tag. The graphics are better than 360, no? There probably aren't as many games, but that's because of the launch lag. I mean, is there something glaring I'm missing between the two consoles?

An hour ago, I was leaning towards buying another 360. Now, I might be leaning towards the PS3.

If you take a multiplatform game it will look the same, maybe a little better on 360 because developers are lazy (PS3 is more difficult to develop for apparently)  However, games developed on PS3 or PS3 exclusives look amazing, and we'll see down the road how much better than 360 they look.  At this point most games aren't even using 1/2 the PS3's power. Wait for them to start harnessing it, its gonna be exciting.

So far all of the games available for both consoles have looked and performed better on the 360.  It is easier to program games for as was mentioned.  Also, the games for the PS3 suck so far.  The Blue-Ray is a big bonus though.  I wonder if the 360 will drop in price the same day as the PS3?  That could make things interesting.  I have the 360 and may get the PS3 if they ever get any good games.  My 360 has worked perfectly for a year and a half and Microsoft just extended the warranty to 3 years.  PS3 is a huge and impressive piece of hardware and I may yet end up with one.

Some light reading might be in order.

As for the PS3, other than the price, the most notable deficiency would be their online support.  Yes, Xbox Live requires a subscription, and there's a reason for that.  PlayStation Online Network is free, and there's a reason for that as well.

PSN is pretty far behind XBL, but expect that to change soon.  Big things are supposed to be announced about PSN at the upcoming E3 in LA.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Yeah, I was going to ask about that. My buddy was telling me not to bother with PS3 because I only have 720p. He said it was best with 1080p, which makes sense because, well, it's sharper. But I've yet to find anywhere it says that.
