So I just got back from the dentist, who told me I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out. He said I should get them removed sooner rather than later.

Well, the Cubs are on a six-game win streak, and I'm not screwing that up, so I told him I'd hold off until December. To which he replied: "You know, it's sometimes more difficult to take a rusty nail out of a piece of wood."

Let it be known that I'm a big wimp when it comes to this sort of stuff. I hate being put to sleep, hate anything involving teeth and/or surgery, and I'm not a fan of pain, either. So here's my question: is it as bad as it sounds?

Please preface any positive posts with a dancing banana so I know to keep reading. Thanks.

UPDATE: Was watching the hot dog eating contest, and when they talked about Kobayashi getting his wisdom teeth taken out, they referred to it as "the worst pain ever."

You can't be racist and like basketball.
I had a dentist tell me the same thing five years ago and never got them taken out and have never had any pain at all.

Methamphetamines in prolonged heavy doses have been proven very effective at removing unwanted teeth.

I had more pain from them stretching the f(*k out of my jaw to get them out then I did from the incisions.  They give you plenty of pretty strong pain killers though.

    shame on you, non-believers
If anyone tells you getting your wisdom teeth pulled doesn't suck, they're lying.

It is pretty bad but just go get it over with. You'll get some totally sweet drugs that will last well beyond your pain.

only pussies get their wisdom teeth taken out

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I had all four of mine done at once, and a couple of them were impacted.  My anesthesia wore off before they finished.  The oral surgeon was prying on my jaw like he was tightening a lugnut on a spare tire.  You might consider other options, like just killing yourself.  But not during the winning streak, we're still 7.5 out.

I got all four of mine out during spring break this year, and sorry to say, but it sucked donkey balls.  I got dry sockets in both of my bottom ones and it was horrible.  if you get a dry socket they can put this stuff that looks like chew in your socket and it relieves the pain.  You should just get it over with, but you get awesome painkillers.

Vicadin makes me feel gooooood.  8)

I got my wisdom teeth out 4 years ago.  Never once felt any severe pain and got to eat ice cream for meals.  I got pity from the female population even though it never hurt.  The day after I got them taken out I got drunk and passed out.  Woke up with a little blood on my t-shirt but everything was still perfect.  Wisdom teeth = child's play.

Note:  I did try tobacco 4 days after wisdom teeth removal for the first time.  I tried skull.  It went straight into my blood stream because of the open hole where the teeth were and made me violently ill.  I puked and had diahrrea for 2 straight hours.  So just don't try skull right afterwards.  You'll be great.

I got mine done at 18, wasn't too bad.  Mine weren't even growing in yet, he just cut the gums and popped em out.  Didn't hurt. I was sore for a few days afterwards but that's about it.

I have only two wisdom teeth. I have plenty of room for them and they're almost in all the way just fine.

I'm hoping that's what the meaning was. Shocker's answer is the only alternative.
