You're &*$@!ed if you're thinking of selling it, unless you sell it to a mechanic for retail value minus cost of new engine. Just get it fixed and drive it for a long time. Then sell it private party when you're tired of it.

I have lived my whole life in this business and it is either great or horrible. Doctors can be wrong with thier diagnosis of symptoms and you just have to go back or to another doctor. If a shop or mechanic is wrong and it costs more people are pissed. I am slowly trying to work my way out of the car business for that very reason. If you haven't checked yet I would probably recommend Car Clinic. They are established and well respected.
