So you think it's fair to call Scorsese the most overrated director without having seen two of his most recognized films in "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull"?
I saw one and don't remember that much about it. Not a good sign. I do understand that those are his two most acclaimed, but they would just have to be damn good for him to live up to the hype that I can't imagine it.
Hell, I even liked "The Color Of Money".
Now that you mention it, I do too. In fact, it is probably underrated. There's some good stuff in there - like when Newman gets hustled (was that Forest Whitaker?) and is in denial about it.
Comparing anything to "The Godfather" is like comparing anything to "The Godfather", it just doesn't work and isn't fair.
I wouldn't say that it is one of the all-time best movies. I only chose it based on genre. And I would say that there are other moves in that genre that should be considered great.
