My Dear KSU friends,

The past couple of days were really difficult for me as I agonized over what to do about Maurice Purify. It had occurred to me immediately that whatever punishment I handed to him needed to be in accordance with common practice in the Big 12 north, in order to be fair to our opponents. To that end, I compiled a list of KSU players that have been arrested since 1993 for comparison (see below). I noted lots of assaults by your players, especially in the Aggieville district, and there were other serious crimes as well. I took special note of the case of Cliff Holloman. For those of you who don’t remember, Holloman was a starting defensive tackle who assaulted his girlfriend outside a bar in Manhattan and pleaded no contest. Snyder had him in the starting lineup the following week, and he wasn’t kicked off the team.

After viewing the list, and seeing the general lack of control exercised by Snyder over his prominent players, I have decided to let Maurice Purify off lightly. He will come to the coaches meeting room next week where coaches Wagner and Jordan will take turns slapping him on the wrist.

Thank you for your assistance in this manner.

Yours truly,

Bill Callahan

Here are some of Kansas State’s arrests since 1993:

- 2006 Kansas State’s leading receiver, Rashaad Norwood, was arrested in a parking lot at your school. He was involved in an argument and refused to disperse when police confronted him. When they arrested him, he refused to cooperate or even give his name. (I based Sam Keller’s punishment off this).

- MICHAEL BISHOP was arrested for assault outside a Manhattan bar in spring of 1998. Snyder claimed he was charged only because he was black and got the charges were subsequently dropped.

- A woman claimed ELL ROBERSON sexually assaulted her the night before the Fiesta Bowl, while he was breaking the team curfew. Snyder allowed him to play anyway, as he was greatly needed, and after “speaking” with other KSU boosters the woman was silenced.
* “I am very much embedded in the athletic department at Kansas State and in the police department at Kansas State, and I can assure you that in many times, especially in a game like this, where Kansas State, this is their star quarterback, they are not going to do anything about him.”

- CHAD MAY, another successful quarterback for you, was arrested for DUI in 1994. That completes the trifecta of successful KSU qb’s: May, Bishop, and Roberson were all arrested during the height of their glory.

- Manny Dies, one of your standout basketball players was arrested in 1998 on a variety of drug charges.

- Cornerback Chris Canty was arrested in 1996 for DUI.

- Mark Young, another basketball player for Kansas state, was arrested in 1997 for traffic charges and failing to appear in court.

- James McGill (safety) and Daniel Davis (wide receiver) were arrested in 2003. 2003 was a pretty successful year for Kansas State wasn’t it?

- Justin McKinney, a defensive back Ron Prince praised last year, was subsequently arrested for writing bad checks.

- Matt Martin, one of Kansas State’s offensive lineman in 2000, was arrested for nearly hitting a parking attendant with his car when she tried to impound his vehicle.

- Kansas State running back Joe hall was arrested in 2001 for probation violations, his fourth run-in with the law at the time.

- Thomas Clayton was arrested for nearly hitting a parking attendant in 2006. (What is it with your players and trying to hit parking attendants?)

- Starting KSU defensive tackle Cliff Holloman was arrested in 1999 FOR BATTERY OF A WOMAN. Despite pleading no contest to this, he was in the starting line-up against Colorado the following week…

- In 1995, All-conference KSU safety Chuck Marlow was arrested for ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER AND ANOTHER PERSON. He also damaged property.

- Allen Webb, another KSU qb, was arrested in 2004 for battery. (Did Snyder have any quarterbacks that didn’t get into serious trouble?)

- Dederick Kelly, a KSU fullback, was arrested in 1994 for DUI.

- In 2002, KSU fullback Travis Wilson was arrested for assaulting a woman.

- In 1996, Defensive Tackle Lance Grace was arrested for assault outside a Manhattan bar.

Does a Husker fan, really want to go toe-to-toe with anybody when it comes to criminal offenses and convictions.  I will admit that no one on your list was a choir boy, but jeez Callahan...those in glass houses.

I think "glass houses" is the whole point of this. Before anyone even knew exactly what happened a few of your fans were making posts here and on rivals about what "scum" Purify was and that he should be kicked off the team immediately. Looking at the above list it appears clear to me that players getting into fights at bars isn't a unique problem at Nebraska, and if Callahan were to follow the precedent set by Snyder then Purify WOULD just get slapped on the wrist.

Callahan has a good record of disciplining players, and I think he will get to the bottom of what happened and do the right thing.

Acronym for "ksufans copycat"

EMAW

I looked up "EMAW" on google, and luckily urban dictionary had it (above). I didn't get what the picture you added to Bill Callahan's post meant.

I had no idea you guys had your own entry on urban dictionary.  :loly:

- MICHAEL BISHOP was arrested for assault outside a Manhattan bar in spring of 1998. Snyder claimed he was charged only because he was black and got the charges were subsequently dropped.
Link the snyder quote and the charges were dropped.  Saying Snyder caused it is bias bullcrap heresay and not fact.  Argument blows.

She was never silenced, legal proceedings were drawn out.  Who gave your BS quote and link it cause it is crap  The situation was crappy but given the facts from both sides, it seems all Ell really did was sleep with a girl that didn't even know who she was sleeping with.  His crime: crappy judgment and curfew violation.

- Cornerback Chris Canty was arrested in 1996 for DUI.

- Mark Young, another basketball player for Kansas state, was arrested in 1997 for traffic charges and failing to appear in court. Who?? Hardly comparable to Purify.

- James McGill (safety) and Daniel Davis (wide receiver) were arrested in 2003. 2003 was a pretty successful year for Kansas State wasn’t it? What for? Must of been ommited for a reason

- Matt Martin, one of Kansas State’s offensive lineman in 2000, was arrested for nearly hitting a parking attendant with his car when she tried to impound his vehicle. Didn't Keller do this one with a cup but actually hit her?  Oh wait, he probably missed which is why your much praised future award winner is all of a sudden in a battle for the position.

- Thomas Clayton was arrested for nearly hitting a parking attendant in 2006. (What is it with your players and trying to hit parking attendants?) Honestly, people at KSU hate campus parking attendants.

- Starting KSU defensive tackle Cliff Holloman was arrested in 1999 FOR BATTERY OF A WOMAN. Despite pleading no contest to this, he was in the starting line-up against Colorado the following week… BATTERY OF A WOMAN?? Come on Nebraska.  Pick a fight you can win.  Your football team has to lead the country in hit women.  I'm pretty sure Lawrence Phillips has hit more women than he has had hot meals.

I think the point KSU fans are trying to make, and yes most are ready to prejudge Callahan as being soft, is about punishment and not players being criminals.  That said, the NU list is pretty F'ing long and I'm sure longer than this.

With all due respect, there is a complete double standard at work here. Your fans make claims like "Osborne controlled the police and state, yada, yada..." but then when Snyder suspiciously makes stuff disappear for your players you never even question it.

I could go through Nebraska players you guys like to bring up and make both valid and vague excuses for a lot of them too. For example, a lot of you love to bring up Christian Peter, but you do realize he was accused of rape, and not convicted? Sound familiar? Ell Roberson anyone? Osborne got out of the way too and let the courts handle it, and the girl dropped the charges for money...she didn't even accuse him until he was about to go pro, two years after the incidents were said to have occurred. On the other hand, from what I've heard, some of your boosters raked Roberson's girl over the coals before the investigation could even begin.

So why is it that whenever a Nebraska player gets accused of something he did the worst things possible in the accusations and it's all true, and when a KSU player does equally bad stuff they are made out to be framed and you guys make excuses them?

(I'm not talking trash, I am just amazed by this apparent double standard and I am interested to see how you think. For those of you that are irritated at me, I have been supportive of your program, but I never promised I was going to agree with you on everything. I've got to go right now, but I'll be around again later.)

Snyder and K-state had/have no control over the state government.

The government did not rename a highway after Bill Snyder.

We did not put Ron Freeman in office.

We are not the ones you seek.
