your guess is as good as mine but this is what I think, **this Line up is assuming we go normal and decide on going with at least one big man**

Clent Stewart (PG)
V-Dub (SG)-assuming he is as good as advertised beyond the 3pt line
Bill Walker (SF)
B*Easy (PF)
Colon (C)- I wish we had a big man...

Key Bench Players..
Sutton-Big Time- could start if we decide to go "small"
Blake Young-this could be a good year for him if he could just find his form he had as a JUCO-maybe move him back to SG where he's comfortable
Pullen- it would be nice to have a good PG off the bench

The Unknowns..
Fred Brown- I just wish I knew more
Chris Merriewether- this could be our third option at the PG-came from a great HS program, I liked what I saw of him last year (which was very little)

David Hoskins.

My guess is now better than yours.
"Kids used to hit him and stab him with pencils," says Harley Bennett, Jason's father. "Finally I told him he had to stick up for himself. Jason is not a violent person. One day he hit one of the kids back and got suspended."

LOL.  The OP fails to mention our best returning scorer.  Quality analysis.

V-Dub is NOT a 2G, FWIW.

My early projections, though we have lots of different combinations we can use in our line-up depending on match-ups.

Stew-Pullen
Young-Brown
Hoskins-Sutton-Yearby
Walker-Dub-Kent
Beasley-Colon

This is going to be a really, really popular topic for a while...good stuff.

However, I think it might be more effective to think in terms of minutes, rather than starters.

I'd predict minutes (from High to Low) for the non-con as follows:
Beasley
Walker
Stewart
Hoskins
Young
Pullen
VD
Kent
Colon
Sutton
Brown

Tough to put Sutton and Brown down there, but to start the season I think they will be fighting for minutes.

In conference play, I HOPE it works out like this:
Beasley
Walker
Hoskins
Stewart
Pullen
Brown
VD
Sutton
Young
Colon
Kent

I think that, although V-Dub isn't a 2, that we could play him on the floor with a lineup that included Walker or Sutton and have them guard the 2.  The athleticism on the team should be GREATLY improved and the options available to the staff are much better and, as Fan said, matchups will really dictate PT.  I suspect the starting lineup will get pretty much set, but PT will vary quite alot.  Determining rotations may be difficult.  Not only do we have alot of presumed talent, but they are mostly new to college ball, as well as to playing with each other.  Assimilating this talent will require some good coaching so, from that perspective, we'll see how the staff does.  There are few teams with an actual good center, so I suspect Colon's time will be more limited, although we may need him to guard inside to keep Beasley out of foul trouble.  We all agree, we'll see Beasley, Walker, Hoskins, and likely Stewart (we must have the ball handling and stabilizing player out front and Stewart does the best job getting us into the offense).  The fifth player is so much speculation based on players we haven't seen.  Could be that Young (likely starts early) steps up, or it could be Pullen, Brown, Sutton, Colon, or V-Dub.  I just hope all of those guys can play like we hope.

it's nice being able to pull athleticism off the bench like we will with sutton and young.

beats the heck out of only having unathletic 'fundamentally sound' bench players like sky and richie terry.

Richie Terry was a starter.

And he wasn't "anything" sound.

GMAB. He was our lockdown defender.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

 :-[

don't make me relive those years.  it was hard enough thinking of him as a bench player.

what was the team like that year?

pg - larry reid.......josh kimm/galen morrison (thank heaven reid was a warrior and never came off the court)
sg - richie terry/phineas atchison
sf - quentin buchanon/donnie wallace
pf - matt seibrandt/travis reynolds/ivan sulic
c - kelvin howell/joe leonard

Kimm, Morrison, and Wallace never even made it to Big 12 play.

Reid
Terry-Atchison
Buchanan-Washington (the football player)
Reynolds-Sei
Howell-Leonard

We were extremely thin that year.  I have no idea how that team beat a ranked Iowa team.

Stewart will not be a starter all of next year.  I could see him starting the season as the starting PG but, we are bringing in better players than him. - move Stewart out to the wing not the point.

leonard and washington didn't even see significant minutes that year either.  i'd love to see the breakdown of minutes per game in conference play for reid, terry, atchison, buchanon, reynolds, seabass and howell.  i wouldn't be surprised if each of those guys was 27 mins or more per game.

True, Washington came on at semester and played significant minutes in one or two games.  He was an all-state basketball player out of HS, but wasn't ready for Big 12 play.  Leonard didn't play much at all and ended up getting injured and had to finish his career with several Big 12 games remaining.

00-01 MPG:
Reid - 35 MPG
Atchison - 26 MPG
Terry - 27 MPG
Buchanan - 27 MPG
Seibrandt - 22 MPG
Reynolds - 26 MPG
Howell - 23 MPG
Sulic - 7 MPG
Wallace - 2 MPG (18 games)
Leonard - 7 (15 games)

Morrison played 1 game.  Kimm played 5 games.  I thought Wallace left before that season, but he left after.

Reid-Terry-Buchanan-Siebrandt-Howell were the main starters.

Online media guide on pdf via kstatesports.com.  2nd "history" page.  Search "2000-01".  Sends you to the ind. stats for each player, so it didn't take long to find stuff at all.

"bank shot" Gavin

And we played against Ries brother a few years ago.  Ries pulled the rare walk-on in football to walk-on in basketball switch IIRC.

ries was a good athlete, just not good enough to kick butt in either sport.  dude could tear up in corporate challenge though.  had him and a former jc ball player on our squad.
