BTW, does anyone else think Jim Rome's "softball guy" rants are hilarious?

    * "Softball Guy" - Similar to his feelings about bowling, Rome also finds jest in men's softball leagues. Rome feels that "Softball Guy" takes the recreational game much too seriously, puts sophomoric nicknames on the back of his jersey (such as "The Rammer"), uses equally immature jersey numbers (such as 0.08, a DUI reference, or 69, a sexual reference), addresses the umpire as "Blue," keeps team statistics, and tends to consume inordinate amounts of alcohol. Rome also notes that "Softball Guy" is frequently a former youth baseball player who claims he would be in the major leagues by now, if not for a high school coach who "had it in for him."

We refer to our kickball ump as "stripes".

I played in a softball league last summer and there was a guy on every team like that.  I pissed off one of them by preventing a double play by interfering with the throwing path (which the ump didn't see).  He had a meltdown and left the game he was so pissed off.

Agree.  I am on a kickball team.  I realized that I may or may not take it too seriously.

I had a facebook meltdown after our first loss and my teammates deleted my posts from their walls.  I was kidding (mostly) but it made me re-evaluate.

Double header tonite.  Playoffs on Sunday.

I used to work with a "softball guy" he plays on a ultra competitive men's team that travels and everything.  While he is insanely good, he also takes things insanely serious.

I used to be that guy 6 years ago.  Played USSSA & ASA "B" ball out of texass and let me tell you, those are some freaks about softball.  Glad those days are over.

No, I'm pretty sure if you ever played D1 baseball and now you play softball (and you're under the age of fifty) you are a douche.  It's kinda like a senior in college dating a high school chick.  You can say she's hot, mature, 18, etc all you want but the facts remain: she is in high school, and you are a douche.

Yeah, but pretty much everyone is 100% serious in fast-pitch. 

The slo-pitch guys are going balls-to-the-walls against a rag-tag collection of half-lit middle aged men who don't even own cleats.
