    It's time to hit it.
good, that means all his talent is focused towards football.  I don't care if he can't walk and chew gum at the same time as long as he can throw the deep ball.

i don't think i have ever been in a softball game where my team hasn't scored less than 6 runs, and i don't think i have ever seen a game where both teams scored less than 7 runs combined... must have been a thriller...

we won a game 3-2 in the playoffs once, more due to great fielding and no walks than anything else.

Am I the only one not wanting our scholarship athletes playing intramurals and risking injury?
Sounds like a stupid risk, considering the $$$ spent on scholarships, recruiting, ect.

Athletes have played intramurals forever.  I once got nearly dunked on by Kevin Lockett.

Doesn't seem like the smartest thing in the world but somebody already said it so I'll reiterate that its been going on for a long time.

A buddy of mine used to load his intramural team with the likes of Lamar Chapman, Nathan Leeper (KSU high jumper and 1998 Outdoor National Champion), and other KSU athletes  and they would simply out jump everybody.

It was kind of funny to watch.

I'm just sayin' because I had really bad luck with injuries in intramurals.

a.Got cleated in the eye...caused my eye to hemorrhage
b.Tore the ligaments and fractured my left pinky
c.Just had surgery on my foot 3 weeks ago from an IM softball injury that happened last year...cut bone in half screw back in correct spot.

Good thing I was of no value to the Kansas State athletics dept.

Actually we had 2 or 3 guys that played D-2 baseball, Centerfield, 3rd, and SS.  They had rocket arms and could play deep enough that no soft liner or hard hit groundball went for a hit on the left side.  They also usually hit homeruns everytime up because the rec doesn't have fences.  That game we just couldn't find a hole.

Michael Bishop could hit a softball a mile.  It was amazing to watch him hit the ball into the other fields' infield.

there is always a hole, you just have to find it. good defense does nothing if your team just hits base hits all day. no team can cover every spot, all the time.

A buddy on my intramural team had Nathan Leaper jump completely over his head and dunk a la Vince Carter in the Olympics.  We still talk about it today.

I think some of the biggest d-bags in the world are Juco (or D2) baseball players.

There was one in my kickball league last year.

Seriously.

Works in theory, but you have to hit the occasional double to clear the bases because no one can hit singles ALL the time.  I've played for a while now and the best teams have great pitchers decent defense, but can spray the ball everywhere.

What, did you walk in after a kickball game to see a Juco and D2 baseball player running a train on your girlfriend?

i agree with that one, a team that can consistently put people on base and hit the gaps is a mighty dangerous team. most leagues have home run rules anyway, so you might as well save it for when you really need it and just hit the gaps the rest of the time. speaking of which, is anyone playing in a summer league in manhattan? i am thinking getting a team together for Cottonwood Tennis club... we could bat all day.

Find 2 guys that can hit home runs at will, play in a 2 homerun limit league and bat them 3rd and 7th.  that's 7-8 runs each game guaranteed.

BTW, does anyone else think Jim Rome's "softball guy" rants are hilarious?

Quote
    * "Softball Guy" - Similar to his feelings about bowling, Rome also finds jest in men's softball leagues. Rome feels that "Softball Guy" takes the recreational game much too seriously, puts sophomoric nicknames on the back of his jersey (such as "The Rammer"), uses equally immature jersey numbers (such as 0.08, a DUI reference, or 69, a sexual reference), addresses the umpire as "Blue," keeps team statistics, and tends to consume inordinate amounts of alcohol. Rome also notes that "Softball Guy" is frequently a former youth baseball player who claims he would be in the major leagues by now, if not for a high school coach who "had it in for him."

We refer to our kickball ump as "stripes".

I used to work with a "softball guy" he plays on a ultra competitive men's team that travels and everything.  While he is insanely good, he also takes things insanely serious.
