There is a campaign on the radio and in the paper in Wichita to bring Eddie Sutton out of retirement.  Now compare the KC Star treatment of Frank Martin to Lutz dealing with Eddie Sutton's NCAA trouble...

"He had that run-in with the NCAA when he was the coach at Kentucky."

Are you freaking kidding me...a run-in.  He and his assistants PAID thousands to players.  Unbelievable, they make Frank Martin out to be the spawn of Satan for what happened in Miami and then refer to Eddie as having a run-in with the NCAA.

Yeah that was pretty funny.  Lutz pimping Sutton as "somebody special" after ripping both Huggins and Martin.

Here is a part that I found kind of funny.

Sutton was flattered by the suggestion, but slow to give it credence.

"Jim's not going to hire me," he said. "He'll go after a younger coach, and that's what it should be. I could coach probably four years, but I don't know if I'll go beyond that."

Four years? Wouldn't that be enough, especially if he could bring along an assistant to groom for the Wichita State job when he retires?

So it'd be ok for WSU to make a hire much like KSU did last year. Then when he leaves/retires to hire one of his assistants just like KSU did.  And yet KSU made a bad decision.  But when WSU would do it it would be right.

By the way first post here.  Lifelong KSU fan from Dodge City.  Started reading the boards when the stuff hit the fan last week.

    Gettin' angried up!!!
I've been reading Lutz' articles for probably 15 years and listening to his radio show for the last few years.  Every time I finish one of his articles I am left with the feeling that he may actually be partially retarded.  No one can be that big of a ku/WSU homer, not without misplaced chromosome or two.

Difference...hs vs college.  Oh, and Frank Martin has yet to get a DUI.  Those worked real well for Gillispie/Sutton.

I played under DC head coach Justin Burke in HS.  Wish him well if you see him, and tell him to send the Cats some of that talent he is developing.

Lutz made several cracks about what a crappie hire Huggs was last summer because of his DUI.  Today the guy is giving Sutton a pass because he bought a "bottle" for his "back pain."   Lutz is an idiot and could not be summed up any better than a "ku/WSU homer."

I thought I might chime in here. I have done business with Mr. Lutz in Wichita and I can tell you two things that struck me about him. 1) He's a rather soft spoken nice guy and 2) Not the brightest bulb.

There's a new sheriff in town.
Lutz and Whitlock are columnists, people.
Their job is to sell papers, so they write crap about KSU, yet are down on their knees for ku.
Thats how you sell papers in Wichita and K.C.
They do it to get a rise outta you guys, and it works.

Its obvious they're paid to sell papers and give their opinion, but Lutz is not all there. He writes about 2 well thought articles per year, whether they be biased for/against ksu, ku, wsu.

But...he is a Cardinals fan, so he has one redeeming quality   :shy:
