Martin and Hill won't lose their recruiting connections and abilities after being promoted.

Since they did all Huggins recruiting it only makes sense that they can do their own too...

I agree, but having Beasley and Walker on the court kicking butt next season, will add loads to their credibility.  (credibility they previously had by being attached to Huggins)

Saying, "Did you watch the first 5 minutes of that NBA Draft thingy last night?  Yeah, I coached that guy", goes a long way.

I agree, but let's not forget that they lose Huggins the "Che" factor as I'm calling it.  He is the symbol/mystique/figurehead they recruit to.  He's gone.  We'll see.

They are certainly unique in that sense.

It's about keeping a class intact.

The breakout is next season.

Our assistants were the reason they came, not because of Huggins (minus Walker and Benneck).

That's why next season is so critical.  They'll develop their own "Che" factor if they kick ass in '07-'08 and cap the season by serving up a couple of lottery picks.

Then we still have Dominique Sutton, Jacob Pullen, Fred Brown, and possibly Bill for one more year. I think the better question is what if we didn't get those first 3 guys? Then we'd be in real trouble.  They're the real future of the program.

but what then?

Martin and Hill recruited this class, not Huggins!  They have great rapport with the kids and the kids trust them.  With a bit of success next year to show the continuity of the program and I don’t see any reason that these guys can’t continue to get the ear of top talent...

Martin and Hill won't lose their recruiting connections and abilities after being promoted.

They lose their selling point. What are you gonna tell a recruit? Come play for Frank Martin? Who the hell is Frank Martin?

They had Huggins name to throw around before.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

You're right.  Playing for Bobby Lutz @ UNC-Charlotte was an awesome selling point for Delonte Hill's recruitment of Beasley.  Good thing he was able to trot that out there.

And Beasley appears, despite his love of Hill, to have sudden doubts about being in Manhattan for a year without huggins as coach.

The fact that Ksu has to recruit to Manhattan is the hardest point to sell.

Back to the original point, Hill was able to sell Beasley on the glitz and glamour of the A-10 and their tremendous TV deal to play for this guy, who just oozes street cred....

Beasley just expressed his doubt on FSN. Article is meaningless.

And I'm pretty sure they expressed his intent to play at charlotte once before.

No offense to Mombeasy, but she was on the Charlotte board saying the same stuff before Beasley changed his commitment.

And Beasley coming to Ksu doesn't affect ku. ku will continue its Big 12 dominance and its elite national presence.
