Weiser and Wefald said today that they told Huggs that money was no issue.  Presumably, they would have paid him more than a million dollars to stay at KSU.

So here's what you do tomorrow:  you offer Frank Martin at least $700,000 to take the head coaching job, and you offer Dalonte at least $400,000 to stay as the top assistant.  Huge raise from their salaries this year, head coaching offer should get Frank, and huge raise for Dalonte and top assistants' post should get him to stay.  Should keep the recruiting class pretty intact...and this recruiting class is worth a lot more than $1,000,000 to KSU.

Frank isn't a bad hire, people.  If you listened to Huggs' post game shows, a lot of time he gave credit to Frank for the crucial coaching decisions.  For example, the full court pressure that won the first NIT game was due to Frank's suggestions in practice.

Hill isn't a bad hire either but he needs to know that he's on deck for the big chair when Frank heads back to Florida in a few years.  Hill probably isn't quite ready for his own gig but Hugs was always praising his breakdowns of opponents and saying that Hill was far better at it than was he.

We don't need to make huge efforts to keep him. If he wants to stay then let him stay.

Frank and Dalonte need to stay.  From what i've been realizing is that the players mostly came to KSU because of these guys and not just Huggs.  We need to do everything to let these Coaches we need them

Hey, I'd love to get Phil Jackson or Larry Brown or Billy Donovan right now, too...but I don't see any of them as a realistic possibility.  Here's what we do know:

1)  Recruiting season is winding down for next year.
2)  Frank Martin and Dalonte both seem to be the key to our recruits.
3)  Huggins has given a lot of credit to both of them for coaching decisions made this year, which didn't turn out too badly.
4)  If we lose those guys, we probably lose most of our recruits.
5)  If that happens, then the next guy we hire had better be able to pull off a miracle and keep most of these guys, which means he has to be really high profile, which looks kinda doubtful given the current coaching situation.
6)  If we don't keep these guys, then we probably don't have many quality recruits for next year, which means we can look forward to no depth whatsoever and probably some questionable starters.  Worse than Wooly's first couple of years.
7)  If we do keep them and next year is horrible anyway, then the worst thing that happens is we lose a year and get back into the coaching search when there might be some better candidates available.

At this point, the risk/reward points to trying to get Frank and Dalonte as our best option.

Definitely our best option!!!!!!!!!   We gave Bill Snyder a chance!!   We gave Ron Prince a chance!!!   Give Frank Martin/Dalonte Hill the Chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If we keep this recruiting class, KSU will definitely keep its reputation and will still matter next year.  At this stage we need to do everything we can to make sure those players still end up playing for KSU.  The excitement of KSU Basketball would still climb higher than it ever has before, even with Frank Martin/Dalonte Hill as coaches.

We did give Woolridge and Asbury a chance, but did they have the luxury of having the chance to coach the #1 recruited class in the nation during their first year?   One year with these players will put K-state basketball back in the national spot light and make KSU look more attractive.    KSU at this point has everything to gain with keeping the recruits intact.
