I think people have made up their minds both ways on Huggins, I don't think anything is going to change that now.  There are some against his hire, but there will be very few who "disown" K-State if he's hired on.

Thanks...

One player convicted since 1999.

A lot of former players on that list (think Boggas, Reese, McIntosh) and players that never made it to campus (think Marcus Raines).

Rusty, if you want some more info to help your cause, look up grad rates for the schools of some of the top mid-major candidates.

You can and will find all kinds of stuff to support Huggins, but in the end I think it will make a .05% difference in this hire. :)

I looked up SIU's, and it was horrible.  Sub-Huggins horrible.  Nevada got a 10% GSR, even though Fox doesn't really have anything to do with it.

I'm not sure how this GSR scholarship reduction thing is going to work out, especially when coaches just don't stay in one place for very long any more.

Watching this GSR thing unfold will be very interesting.  We won't see the real affect of the rule for a couple more years.  When the first school loses a scholarship we'll know if the NCAA really means business and then we'll have to see how much they'll allow exeptions.

Although he never made it on campus, his recruitment brought a ton of negative press.

Yes, but he was not a Snyder project.   He was recruited and then later dropped.   However, I think the comparison's to Huggins and Snyder is a bit off because you only have like what 12 players on basketball team, Snyder had ten times that, and a Snyders had only a couple of felony's.

When you compare Snyder and Huggins, it's really apples to oranges.

Several players on the Huggins list are recruits that were dropped before they made it to campus.  Felonies are felonies - they shouldn't be excused for FB players just because there's more players on a football team.

Who was dropped?

Secondly, you're talking about recruiting players with records.  Other than Marcus Raines, what other players had criminal past before they got to KSU?

And you need to understand, I'm not against Huggins, but I can play devils advocate too, and find a hundred reasons not to hire him, reasons that will be looked at in the hiring process.

I want KSU to be competitive again, but trying to assume that only one guy can do this is shortsighted.

I'm not doing that.  I just think Huggins is by far the best option.

I think a lot of people agree.   I'm not saying he isn't the best option to win.  Is he the best coach though, for KSU?

To me, he is.  Who do you think would be better?

Majerus would be a better coach, imo.   The likelyhood we'd get either one is small at best.

We should keep Wooldridge, then.

Then when would we get rid of him?

Why get rid of him?  He's a great fit, tries hard, and keeps the team competitive.  He'll be just like good ole Jack Hartman and stay in Manhattan till he dies.

You've become cynical.  :)

How come you didn't call me this weekend?  Too busy?  Hopefully, she was good. ;)

Please, tell me how someone who has pretty much been a huge KSU basketball fan since 1988 could be anything but cynical when it comes to the Men's basketball program.

Yep.  Too busy.  The best I could do was a couple ESPN News updates.  I couldn't live in Phoenix.
