You can't be racist and like basketball.
Guards can post up too, you know.

Just make him practice ball handling and three point shooting for about 3 hours a day this summer, and he could do it.  It would make him marketable to the NBA and create hellacious mismatches.

Is this "tongue in cheek" Rusty?  I hope so.

I don't think you can make a guy that's been a 3/4 his whole college career a PG.  He's a great passer at his spot, but I don't think that necessarily makes him a great passer from the point.  I don't think he has the ballhandling skills, the athleticism (for his body type), nor the mindset to handle the spot night in and night out in Big 12 play.

I'd still have him work on ball handling and 3 pointers for 3 hours a day.

Definately needs to work on his perimeter shooting and slashing, but he probably needs to focus on posting up as well.  Next year he'll have the advantage of being matched up with SFs more often with Beasley in the line-up and (hopefully) an improved Bennett/Colon.  He should be able to tear apart SFs in the low block.

You could have him work on it for 8 hours a day for the next 5 years along with throwing in a copy of the Steve Nash instructional video and David Hoskins would still be a crappy Big 12 point guard.  There is a reason why he is a 6'4" player that does his best work inside.  He is just limited in a lot of ways on the perimeter.

He should definitely do whatever he can to extend the range on his jumpshot.  If he can get to the point where he is a dangerous threat from 3, he would be really hard to defend.

anyone know his 3 point percentage in big 12 play??? seems like he has taken a lot less and hit a better percentage, I know he fired up a ton early on before we learned how to move and attack on offense.

He has an Ok jumpshot it just doesn't have much range, when he shoots 3's there isn't a lot of touch on it like Cartier has.  He and Clent stewart both need to work on their outside shots constantly this off season.

We have had crappy point guard play ever since Fred Peete left, so it's not like that would be anything new.

Definitely the ability to hit the three would take his game to the next level.

He shoots 30% in Big XII play...22% overall.

Cartier is shooting 41.7%(!) from 3 in league play.

Scroll down for conference-only stats.

Wow.  Really bad idea.  He's not nearly a good enough ball handler.  He may be able to dribble a tiny little bit against some forwards, but any point guard with decent hands would destroy him.

I agree.  Has anyone ever seen him drive to the left?  Why don't other teams force him that way?
