37 years of watching KSU sports told me just as soon as Sunday morning that last night wasn't going to be good.   We don't match up well with ku, shooting well from 3 at Texas was going to give the team false confidence, and winning 6 in a row including an emotional game at a tough place screamed we were going to come out flat last night.

Our matchups with ku suck right now.  Whitlock is right, KSU needs guys like Bill Walker and Beasley who are vastly more talented then any guys we have now to overcome that.   No real PG is killing KSU as well against the likes of ku.

Jason Bennett . . . I would just assume not even see that guy in a KSU uniform next year.  I see no upside with that kid.  He has no skills, he's slow, he's dumb . . . he's just a tall redneck from Florida with no appreciable basketball skills whatsoever.   I'd prefer that Huggy go find a Jerimiah Massy type with maybe a little more physicality that can bang and finish inside, and get to the line and hit free throws.   Add that dimension in with Walker and Beasley and it will be a nice trifecta.  Colon at least shows some glimpse of an ability to have an offensive game, and he's got a nice touch at the line.  He's just got to learn to move better.

KSU needs to take care of business against ISU, CU, and Nebraska and hopefully get 1 of 2 out of the Oklahoma Schools.

I might be willing to impose physical harm upon someone to find out what the hell happened with Kenny Williams...

What?  Remember, he's a freshman.  He's not going pro early.  He's 7 feet 2 inches.  He'll develop.

He's already light years ahead of Colon because he is 7'2".  Once he learns how to box out and position himself on D he will be fine.  If he can do ANYTHING on O then I will be thrilled.  Colon still hasn't progressed to the "use two hands to rebound" stage and he won't get by on height there.

So far they both have bad attitudes and can't rebound or score.  They have three more years to figure one of those out.  At least Bennett can scare people when he's in...well Colon did punch that dude.

Jason Bennett isn't going to get any better then he is now.  He's dumb . . . dumb guys don't develop.  His attitude sucks . . . seriously, when Huggy went down the line in the dressing room awhile back and when he got to Bennett and told him when he's done at KSU he'll be down at the docks sucking dick, he's probably pretty much dare I say . . . spot on.

Okay jayhox.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

When you're old enough to have friends who have kids that are college aged and these friends have connections to get their kids certain positions within the athleic department . . . then you can get "insider" information, one of the perks of getting older.

It also doesn't hurt to have a brother who works directly with 3 or 4 guys whose wives work in the athletic department and in a key area at the school that deals with lost of athletes.

I was just thinking about the non-meltdown on this board and wondering who might have taken this loss the hardest.  What kind of unprecedented skills do you expect a guy that tall to have?

I still believe we would have been better off with Kenny Williams this year.

Maybe not long term, but definitely this year.

I don't expect huge skills, I just don't think his attitude and general smarts are befitting a kid that's going to develop.

I hope I am wrong, but that's the way I see it now.

Give him a chance dax.  He's probably been hearing from the other students how badly they want to beat ku.  He was all geeked up to play.  Unfortunately, it backfired on him.

An off season w/ Greenwalt will find him bigger, faster and stronger next season.  He's not going to be a big scorer.  However, i feel he can be a real good rebounder and defender.

His attitude sucks .

That's funny because the coaches have said he's one of the harder workers in practice.  He's just very immature.

Dax, who and what Jason Bennett is indicative of who and what this entire team was at one point, maybe just to a greater extent.  They all were lacking in all areas of the game including attitude and general smarts.  Huggs broke the team down since practice began and throughout the OOC and since then we've gained progress and began playing Huggins style of ball.  The same thing will happen with Jason and if you expect not only him, but Huggins to NOT allow that to happen you are nuts. He'll be fine.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

IMO, Bennett prepared himself to fail against ku by talking to the papers about how bad he wanted to beat them and how he wanted to play Kaun so bad.  He's obviously a kid that lacks maturity (just compare him to Walker) and its showing.  Its funny how we seemed to have the same conversation about Colon.  IF the staff can get these guys to grow up, they'll have a couple pretty good bigs next year, and possibly really good by their JR years.  I think Huggs likes both of their fight, he's just trying to get them to grow up and if they do they can be pretty good Big 12 post players.

One big thing for Bennett is to put on about 20-30 pounds of muscle.  If he gets that over the next couple years he can be a force IMO.

How can you be 7-2 and not grab one rebound.

Rebounding is all about desire and want to . . . see Ed Nealy for starters.

But, I am going to sound like an old man now, rebounding is a lost artform in basketball.

Again, I am just calling as I see it.

Dumb guys that over react, don't take well to being coached.  That's what I see in Jason Bennett.

Dumb guys that over react don't take well to coaching.  Although Rodman would likely be the poster child for that...dude could rebound.  Lighten up on Bennett and Colon.  Huggs says rotten things about all the guys...that's why we love him...he is tough.  Bennett can move around and has some athleticism.  He will pack on 20 lbs of muscle this offseason, as will Colon.  You've been around awhile, Dax, Bennett isn't Skippy Prudhoe.  He can and will develop as he adds strength to go with his attitude (which Huggins will rein in to just a nasty attitude).  Both Colon and Bennett will be alright.  By the way, the tough guy who can make shots and do everything else is coming next year...see Michael Beasley.

Rodmon had street smarts . . . Bennett has got sitting in the garage drinking beer smarts.  Big difference.

Good post, Dax.

Jason Bennett is a lot like JR Giddens.   The sooner you get rid of him, the better off you'll be in the long run.

Kenny Williams = Colon.

not similar players in my opinion.  kw is a strong athlete with poor skills.  tony massop would be good comparison.

colon is bigger, extremely slow, a poor athlete, though with a nice big frame.  he does show good touch though, and might develop some moves.  he isn´t there yet, and probably never will be.  but if you want to project him out as developed to his fullest potential, then i would compare him to a victor alexander, or someone like that.
