How will you feel about your season and the progress Prince has made? The UT win was obviously the highlight of your season so far but would a loss to Kansas ruin the momentum K-State has built?

No.  7 wins, including a win over a top 5 team on national television will give us enough positive momentum to bring us in to next year, and compete for the Big XII North Championship. A loss to ku (on FSN Midwest) won't change that.  Really, anything else after right now is just icing on the cake.

First of all, not really concerned about losing since this coaching staff understands what's at stake.  There is hardware available after this game and Prince and Co. want to keep it.

Secondly, *if* we lose, I don't really see this as one of those games where it will be all bad.   ku is not a bad team, and they have played well with the best of them.  I think they play more to their competition than they do just to win (see Toledo).   This is one of those "all bets are off" games and both teams could care less about what went on before or after this game.

Third, if KSU wins, we really aren't ku's rival anyway.  Missouri is.  I bet ku is overlooking us to play their real rival.

Bummed. Don't think a loss would ruin anything, but it WOULD show that we can't yet handle success. I trust Prince has the boys' heads back on straight. In my mind, this is a must win - we need to win our own state annually!

Going into this season I said that six or more wins would be a very solid season.  When you stop to consider that KSU has a new coaching staff who are implementing new schemes with (mostly) players recruited by Bill Snyder's staff for different offensive and defensive schemes it is rather amazing that Prince has won more games with this crew than did Snyder in either of his last two seasons.  Snyder is certainly no slouch and he didn't get it done with this crew so any amount of success beyond what he accomplished the last couple of years puts this season beyond criticism.

Personally I'd have been content if KSU didn't win another game after CU.  Six wins, a nice Big XII road win in a venue in which we always play poorly, and any bowl game would have been enough.  Defeating a top 5 team in a nationally televised contest was the icing on the cake for me.  Anything more is just a bonus and so far beyond expectations that there can be no real disappointment if it doesn't come to pass.

ku isn't an awful team.  They're a lot like CU in that they have good athletes and have managed to stay in a number of games this year, even against very solid competition.  For a team picked to finish dead last before the season and one coming off the program's biggest win in a number of years there'd be no shame in dropping this one.  I don't think Prince will allow that to happen but I won't lose any sleep over it if it does.

What I'm really curious to know is how you guys would feel about Prince if you lost to ku. For the most part this season has been a roller coaster for you guys in regards to your feelings about Prince. One week he's a complete buffoon and next week he's a genius. Since the UT game Prince's stock seems to be at its highest level since the season started and I'm betting a loss to ku will bring the anti-Prince faction out of the woodwork again.
In other words, how much slack did Prince earn for beating Texas?

You're underestimating what last weekend's win means to us, and our program.
Independant of what happens this weekend vs. ku, we know that we're ok.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
I doubt that a loss to ku (won't happen) would bring the anti-Prince crowd out again.  The 'Cat's current record surpasses most, if not all, expectations for this season and the upcoming bowl game will work to only solidify positive opinion of his presence at BSFS.

There's been some posts in other threads that ku no longer considers KSU as a rival.  I'm not so sure that KSU doesn't feel the same way.  We'll let the 'hawks focus on Mizzou; let them relive the whole border state war each year while we focus our efforts on the likes of Nebraska and other teams at the top of the B12 North--taking our chances against the top fo the B12 South along the way.

When you look at what Prince has been able to accomplish in year one -- implement new offensive and defensive schemes, install underclassmen at key positions on both sides of the ball, and post 7 victories while doing it -- Prince has achieved and should be applauded.

With a victory over ku, we'll just question our feelings even less.

That would be 7-5 if I'm not mistaken....right where I wanted to be and thought KSU should be this year.

While a loss to ku would suck, it wouldn't suck near as much as losing to NU at home did...or losing to Misery ever...and it certainly wouldn't suck as bad as not having a football team.

It would be a loss of bragging rights between our teams..but unless ku pulls off the upset vs. Mizzou..Kstate has already trumped Mangino's career...and this is Prince's first season.

Wont matter here @ KSU at all.  Now to ku, should they lose, they're the walking dead  program.  They'll have fat man for 5 more years and he'll be castrated in recruiting.  We'll be fine either way.

Some of the criticism of Prince earlier in the season was probably due to the fact that the team really looked awful in the opener but did make a bit of progress through the next few games before falling flat on its face in the Big XII opener.  It would have been OK if the wins didn't come this year so long as we all could see steady progress even if said progress came slower than we'd like.

After the loss to Baylor we started to hear grumblings about a rift between the offensive and defensive players and another between members of the coaching staff.  That's the sort of thing that can drag a program (and a coach's career) straight down the toilet.  It's a damn good omen that Prince was able to manage those conflicts and not only get the team to play hard and improve but also win enough games to make the postseason.  Lots of teams would've thrown in the towel and the fact that this one refused to do so says an awful lot about the coaching staff.

Win or lose at ku Prince has proven that he is more than capable ofhandling the HC spot at a BCS school.  Very early on I said that he was a good choice because he "gets it" with respect to managing the organization.  There are tons of great X & O guys out there and tons of great recruiters but there aren't many coaches that really understand how to build and maintain the sort of excellent organization it takes to be successful at this level (see e.g., Bill Snyder).  Prince is one of those guys but it appears that he can also coach & gameplan just a bit as well.  The future's bright for KSU football no matter what happens Saturday.

    Overkill. It works.
If we lose to ku I won't be crying in my beer or anything.  There's not AS much shame in losing to ku as there once was.  However, IF we lose (and I don't think we will), it won't be the end of the world.

I'm not going to lie, I would be extremely disappointed. I never want to lose to ku. IMO, the losses this year from least bad to worst go in this order..

1.Louisville (losing to a top ten team really doesn't make me feel that bad and we played them pretty well)
2.Missouri (I really did expect this one and I was pissed off about the streak ending but I would rather lose to them than the Nubs)
3.Nebraska (hate the Huskers)
4.Baylor (no explanation needed)

If we lose to ku, ku would top all of those losses. I know that they aren't an awful team, but I just couldn't stand losing to them. I would be happy with the season as a whole, but still would be very disappointed that we lost to ku. However, I don't expect it one bit.

Prince may have lost his 5th scholarship receiver(since July) for this game and included that Jordy is far less than fully healthy, we have 3 starters out on defense including our best player in Watts, we have the starting RT out, etc, etc, and you ask if losing to a solid ku team on the road when they need bowl eligibility would be some kind of disappointment?

We're hanging on by a threat health-wise.

I was under the impression that losing to ku any year would be a disappointment. They're not exactly known for fielding great teams. And since when is ku's football team "solid"?
I personally think you guys will crush them unless Freeman just has a terrible game. Their pass defense is horrific.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Agreed. The CU fans were very classy. I was pissed they weren't bitter. I had a guy get in my face after the 2004 game and would have given anything to see him again that day.
