What a bunch on pansies.  Uncle Tom sold out so Bo could win a few more games in the much easier Big Ten Conference.  I will see all Big Red fans in a different light from this point on.  SELL OUTS!!!!

as much as i'd like to, i don't think we can really blame nebraska.  they're doing what's best for #1. that means more $ and it means more exposure on tv.  back east here, i get a ton of big10 games that i don't want to watch.  its only the good big12 matchups that im lucky enough to get.

now as for k-state, the reason we're being left out of talks is because we don't bring much to the table in terms of $.  unless we can change that...well, tough crap.  it's my hope that texas figures it can make more money from big12 than pac16.  but that leaves us relying on others and we should have never let ourselves get in that position to begin with. :chainsaw:

I really wish the Big XII would have been a better fit for NU and I hate that KSU may get caught up in the fallout.

A little foresight might have helped the teams that may get left behind in this mess. If the conference was a 3 legged stool it might have helped to listen to all 3 legs.

I'm a little shocked by OU's reaction in all of this. They seem to be willing to let texas drag them wherever. I'm guessing the will change their name to the Oklahoma steers after this year.

From the get go the league bowed to Texas. Remember, in the beginning of the league the Texas schools were begging to get out of the bad deal in the SWC. The league headquarters should have been in Kansas City, a commish with Big 8 ties should have been hired. Instead we gave them too much power and they seized on it and took control. The old Big 8 schools had the power and gave it away. In 1996 NU was a defending National Champ, KSU was a top 5 team and CU was real good. The teams from Texas were not powerhouses, we made them powerful and they took over.

:cyclist: yep.  nows a good time to remember what it was like for a good 5 or 6 years when colorado, nebraska, k-state were consistently in the top 15 or so.  made for some great november matchups.  hell, iowa state wasn't half bad.  missouri and ku were god-awful though.   what the hell happened?!  :cyclist:

Final poll for the 1995 season

Nebraska  1
Colorado   5
K-State     7
Kansas     9

This was all under the Big 8 rules. Aren't you glad we got all that fixed?

The bail out wasn't stupid. The sell out was stupid.

If the Texas 4 would have been brought into the Big 8 it may have worked. The Big 8 was scrapped and a new conference was formed. There were a lot of shortsighted decisions made, for the most part to dethrone Nebraska.

I think that's true. The Big 8 was working well, and all of the teams were competitive. Letting the carpetbagging a-holes from Texas take over was a mistake, as was changing the rules to suit them.

It's sounding like the Big 12 might stay together, with Texas taking over even more control. My advice is to get the hell out while you can.
