Yesterday was a pretty big dissapointment for anyone cheering the Wildcats. I believe the Wildcats are at a crossroads. The next few days will be a real test for them. Can they as a team rebound from their most recent adversity and start a new string of victories or do they let it get into their head and fade at years end. I certainly hope they will be able to put the distraction and adversity behind them and refocus on what made them successful. With the #5 ranking I believe they let up a bit. I don't think their defense has been as good for a full 40 minutes as it had been in prior games. I think they thrive on a tough ass defense. I'm also not sure why they seem to struggle at home unless it serves to distract them a bit. Frank will have the presciption for what ailes them. I think they will be more willing to listen to what Frank has to say. I'm not sure all will agree but Frank has been more laid back lately and I think the team has followed suit. Frank, Step up the get in your face passion you have. I believe the team soaks up that energy and uses it to propel them to success. Our bigs need to get their confidense back and quit looking perplexed when they get fouls called. Where are those physical wildcats?

[Coach Martin] has really become much more subdued lately.  It's probably due to the national attention K-State has garnered, but it is hurting the team.  I was hoping Martin would pick up a technical at some point in the 2nd half, but it never happened.  No emotion, no urgency.  No sense of the moment.*

*Which, makes sense. Considering K-State hasn't been in this position in decades, do the players even get that they are ranked 5th or what that is suppose to mean?  Or that they had a chance at a No. 1 seed in the NCAA's?  This team went from missing the Tourney last year to almost being a No. 1 seed.  Who is the last team to do that?  What's the highest seed for a team that missed the Tourney the year before?

I concur.

I hope Martin's more relaxed attitude isn't due to a clause in his new contract...

I was curious how K-State had done this year in close games and in each of its 6 losses.  I broke it down, but ultimately, I think it shows K-State was a good team which played slightly better on the road than at home.  What this means going forward?  I have no idea.

Blowout losses:
@ Ole Miss, 12 pts.
@ ku, 17 pts.

What about close games (6-points or less):
Loss, @ MU, 6 pts.
Win, @ CU, 6 pts.

K-State went 4-4 in those close games (3-1 on the road, 1-3 at home, including both OT losses).  The rest of K-State's wins, save three, were double-digit (only FHS, Dayton and Texas were under 10).

+10 or more is considered a large victory based on ESPN insider simulations.  Not that, that has helped with my handicapping.

That one was a stretch.  But, it was faster to lump it with ku than to specify double-digit losses vs. blowouts.
