Its all or nothing now. I'm guessing there is an offer and Harbaugh would be a good hire for ku no doubt....but, again, there are too many people wanting to sound important and mucking up this potential deal.

I think Tuberville  would be a better choice but Harbaugh is this years' celebrity that fell into a good RB situation.

LOL

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2009/dec/11/perkins-no-offer-has-been-made-head-coaching-candi/?football

Kind of reminds me of that time Krause (furiously shaking fax in his hand) "no offer has been made, no offer has been made."

Having been a witness to that "coaching search" you would know that a good AD keeps this hush until its a done deal. Part of that job is selling it to the media. "We haven't offered anyone" - AD  "I haven't been contacted and even if I am it doesn't matter cause I'm staying at ____" - coach.  This is something so pathetically simple to know and our old AD fell all over themselves out of the gate.

When have you ever seen anyone (and consider how good Lew is) dumb enough to say, "yup, we've offered Jim. Now it's down to him choosing us or Stanford. Hopefully he decides soon." "Oh and if he doesn't - Turner, I'm on the first flight to Buffalo."

This thread =  :flush:

ku could have made it through the weekend without an announcement of any kind.  The nation is not on pins and needles awaiting a decision.

FWIW, I would be willing to bet this is Lew attempting to save face.  You don't tell someone that you want to "take the weekend" unless you are hoping to get a counter offer or consult with someone, such as the NFL.

Methinks he just needs to get back west after the Heisman dealie to tell his team first.  Common courtesy.  Sunday or Monday for the media love-in.

How do you look your players in the eye at Stanford and tell them this?  I'm leaving a good team full of high character student athletes to go to Kansas and coach a bunch of thugs who fight basketball players on campus and finished dead last in maybe the weakest division in BCS football.   This entire thing is just puzzling to me it sounds like it is going to happen but it's just crazy that he would actually make this move.

    Powertard Un-approved
Really is a step down going to uk.  That's why it doesn't make sense.  I'm not believing its official.

He could easily bolt to the NFL in 6 weeks, right before the recruiting deadline.  Could also bolt in a year and this whole thing would happen again.
