Damn White House lies to us again.  Apparently, they used "stunt vegetables" in the episode featuring Obama's chef.  Bastards.

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/01/12/iron-chef-special-used-ringers-not-veggies-from-the-white-house/?icid=main|search3|dl1|link4|http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/01/12/iron-chef-special-used-ringers-not-veggies-from-the-white-house/

I watched that, enjoyed it, and now am hurt.  I hate it when episodes are decided on things other than taste though.  I guess I understand the other crap for a tie breaker, but if i see someone win taste and lose overall, i'll be

I &@#%ing love that dude.  Good Eats was the first show I really started watching on the Food Network and is still my fave.  Love that they have finally starting airing new episodes recently as I've seen every episode like a zillion times.

Love it when Anthony Bourdain makes fun of the p**** Food Channel talent, which should also go for the fans that actually watch that channel....

Tony is freaking awesome.  You ever watch his first show that was actually on the food network?  There's a lot of reasons why he doesn't exactly care for that channel.  The TV version of "A Cook's Tour" was nowhere near as good as the book (mostly because he simply wasn't allowed to air many things) but it was still interesting.

No I missed that. I knew from the show that he was an author....I never thought about getting his book, is it really that good. Isnt it about him working in the restaraunt business for years.  Guy is really intelligent would definitley be cool to hang with and party...could you imagine the stories he could tell.

I believe his original book was Kitchen Confidential, is there another one that the show was based on?  I saw him give lecture deal at the Midland in KC.  Hilarious.  After they had a cocktail reception for the highrollers  8-) and the people like me pretending to be high-rollers at the Bristol.  The food was ridiculously legit and the drinks were free.  :lick:  Got to meet him and talk to him a bit, but mostly was in it to eat.  Dont know what to say to someone in that situation.  Would much rather have a beer and talk for a while.  Really cool night though.

Yeah, "A Cook's Tour."  Maybe not at good as "Kitchen Confidential", but still a very good book.

Yeah, his books are really good.  Dude is very smart and &@#%ing hilarious.  Interestingly, my good friend actually got to hang out with him one night.  Tony was speaking at the culinary school my buddy attended (CIA- Bourdain is also an alum.) and went out and had a bunch of beers with some of the students afterwards.  Tony rode in my buddy's car because it was like a 30 minute drive into Poughkeepsie and he wanted to ride in an SUV cause he's a pretty tall dude.  Apparently, Tony smoked like 10 cigarettes during the drive and was drinking cans of beer with a paper sack wrapped around it.  My buddy says he's a really cool dude, unlike Bobby Flay, who is a total jackass.

Yeah, his books are really good.  Dude is very smart and fracking hilarious.

Remember when Flay jumped up on the chef's table and raised his hands in victory at the end of a round of the original Iron Chef Japan?  I think he was going against Morimoto.  Morimoto got really pissed and said it was disrespectful and Flay said, like, f^ck you or something?  Then Morimoto won iirc.

He jumped on the cutting board the first time and Japanese consider it sacred so Morimoto was pissed at that. The second time, Bobby won again, threw the cutting board off the table and just jumped on the table. The only time Morimoto beat Flay was when they did that dumb ice thing a few weeks ago.

I am pretty sure Morimoto won the first one.  Flay did it before the judges tasted and was all  :curse: when he ended up losing, so they did the rematch

^^^This.  Morimoto won the first match in NYC and Bobby won the rematch in Japan.

Mexican channel, BET

OMG

dave.  what you watch on those channels?

I noticed I just recently stated receiving what I believe is a Spanish speaking TBS.  It's exactly the same as the regular TBS, but dubbed in Spanish.  Kinda weird.
