Frank Martin was supposed to speak at Rotary in Manhattan last Thursday.  Of course he was at media day, so we got Underwood.  He didn't say much, but there were a couple of notable tidbits.

When asked who the best defender on the team was, he immediately responded with Sutton (no news there).  He went on to say that Pullen is pushing him for that because of his on the ball skills.

He said that Pullen and Clemente reported to the coaches after every scrimmage this summer.  Underwood said some of the scrimmages were split between the returners and the frosh.  He said the frosh never beat the returners and frequently were shut out.  That sounds pretty Powertard Approved, but those were his words, not mine.

great report.

don't understand the powertard reference.  don't see anything powertarded in there.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

The fact that the frosh were shutout in many scrimmages.  That sounds made up to me.  Not because I think they are GRCOAT and cannot be stopped, but anyone being shutout in multiple bball scrimmages doesn't sound right to me.

oh yea, i see your point.... you never know with the practice scrimmages.  coaches make up all sorts of weird rules/ways to keep score.

The ones on Saturday were very short.  I could see it happening from time to time but yeah, a little strange.

I believe the Powertard reference is about the frosh not beating the returning players, kinda along the lines of "Our backups are better than our starters!!"

Rec ball rules - probably playing to 15 by ones and twos or something similar. Still tough but possible.
