Don't bring up Cody Lee Smith. :-[

Dude had major talent . . . major talent . . . but he had serious health problems, it took weeks at the Mayo Clinic to figure out.

This thread is tired.

We should do an all couldn't, shouldn't, wouldn't team. A list of players who had no business seeing the field but got significant playing time. Exceptionally relevant for the past couple of years.

I'll get it started,

Daniel Gonzalez.

On the Tomlinson thing, I have a story to tell, related to me by a former asst coach for KSU.

Apparently Tomlinson got in late on a flight from Texas.  The first item of business when the recruits arrived was to have a meeting in the team room with HOFCBS.  During this meeting Tomlinson fell asleep.  The next morning, he was on a flight home.  FWIW.

Stan Parrish didn't recruit Barry Sanders even after he tore it up out there at CICO park in his last HS game.

In his defense, Snyder didn't pass on Darren Sproles and they immediately recognized what they had when he showed up.
Is your life so sad that KSU football isn't enough?

"Sweetness" (as in Walter Payton):  All set to attend KSU and then illegally recruited away by Jackson State at the last minute.  I read an article about this a while back but can't remember all the details now.

Here are some more:

DB  Isaac Harvin--he allegedly ran a sub 4.2 40 and was supposed to be another great juco around the same time as Bishop, never showed

LB  Ben Henderson--supposed to be a great juco LB in the 90s, never showed

RB Carlos Alsup--may have just been because of injuries

I don't believe it.  Prove it.

Or the fact that he was behind Sproles in the depth charts.
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

RB Carlos Alsup--may have just been because of injuries
My P.E. teacher, former football coach, and head baseball coach at Winfield high school used to coach Alsup said "He had all the talent in the world, he isn't very smart though."

Just saying that's why he didn't play under Snyder, and why he played under prince.

Since when do you have to be smart to play football at a high level?

I always heard Michael Bishop wasn't too bright.

Street smart vs. Book smart? Alsup must not have been very football smart either.

So Alsup was as athletic as Michael Bishop, I don't think that's a fair comparison. However Bishop was football smart. Alsup not to much, said they had to write the hole numberings on his knuckles.

I thought of 2 other RBs
Leon Patton
Thomas Clayton
