If Snyder can't recapture the magic a second time (the odds now are enormous) , then I think as Cat fans we are going to have to look cold, dark reality straight in the face. KSU football will be done. Over. No more. It will slide back into sub-mediocrity forever.

Then the AD department and Prez will be faced with a huge decision- do they keep funding football at it's current level or start funneling more $$$  into the BB program?

You have no idea how difficult it was in '89 do you?

Its not hard to win 7 games a year. Look at ku.

Bingo. Considering that we get to play in the North, only have to play three South teams, and can schedule cupcakes at will, bowling yearling isn't out of the question. It make take a few years to get there, and we may not sniff the BCS for a very long time, but a yearly bowl trip is fairly likely.

Plus, as many of us have stated many times. Only a few "convincing" wins under Snyder and the 'tards will be out in full force, buying tickets, donating money, etc. Money won't really be a issue. The issue will be at what point do we (as a fan base and school) become complacent, going to the Independence Bowl ever year, or competing for big12 champs and BCS bids every couple of years? I prefer the later but many tards will be more than happy with the independence bowl

I'm guessing this kid became a fan circa 1997.

I thinking you're right. This kid probably has never been to a game, in Manhattan, where the number of ushers far out numbers the KSU fans. The kid would have loved being at a Nebraska or Oklahoma game. Jeesh.

Snyder won't fail.  He's too big to fail.  The government will bail KSU out with a minimum of 3 additional wins.

I'm a '94 grad, asshats. Yeah, I'm aware of how hard it was. It took a one in a million staff of top level assistants. Won't happen again. Get it? Not saying the program won't continue to exist, but the fan support is going to resemble ku pre Mangino. And thanks for the child like responses. I know of a lot of season ticket/ sky suite folks who are hedging on buying again if the 2009/2010 seasons don't go well. But I'm sure in between your dorm room jack off sessions to your downloaded Lindsey Lohan pics you probably heard something differently. :jerkoff:

After reading They said it couldn't be done I honestly believe it can happen again because of Snyder's dedication to the program I mean we were a losing program and he was a young poor coach who was willing to take part of his small paycheck and donate it to the university. Bill Snyder is a great human being and he's going to do it. :ksu:

at least the KSU program will not follow the pre-Snyder era.  KSU is behind in facilities and money, KSU has no big time donors.  KSU is on the brink of destruction.

This is a true statement, but it took that to become a double digit win, league contender for a stretch of 5-7 years.  I'm willing to accept that this probably won't happen again, but Iowa State proved that if you can find a Dan McCarney and be patient you can build an annual bowl team that occasionally will battle for a north crown in down years (for the league).  The big keys there being patience and then accepting that is what you are.  Iowa State fans tasted enough success though that this wasn't enough and they sent McCarney packing and now they are in worse shape as a program.

Now, should Iowa State under McCarney be the goal?  Certainly not, but I think the next step for this program is to try to get there (hopefully under Snyder); to expect to us to progress right to the 94-03 years right away simply is a pipe dream.

McCarney sucked. I don't care that they are in "worse shape" then they were during the final years of the McCarney era. At least they have hope w/a new coach.

Do you remember how bad ISU was in 2006? McCarney flat out sucked ass.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Don't disagree.

Just saying McCarney got them into several bowl games, had some decent players by ISU standards, and had them knocking on the door for a North title for 2 years.  Its not "that hard" in today's college football to put together a "decent run".  So there is no reason to think we're going to go back to pre-Snyder at K-State even if he fails unless our Admin is just completely incompetent.
