    The very best.
we need some "playmaking abils" here, which i don't think we currently have. kind of disapointing, really.

But, maybe LB's aren't such a big deal in the new "spread offense" day and age*?

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

From what I saw Harold and whoever the other defensive end is whether it be Terrell or Valentine or kirk etc. has outside contain meaning that Hrebec & Houlik won't have to cover the whole field making their jobs much easier because now they can attack and squeeze gaps hope this helps fatty.

So who's on coverage for outside screens and swing passes out of the backfield ? I seem to recall those being the plays that went for 30-40 yds a hit last year against us.

we're currently coaching up Logan Dold to be the ballhawker he was meant to be. :scared:

Heard that Dold did not play. Injury, discipline, not ready after the switch, or keeping switch under wraps?

It depends on what coverage we drop into if we drop into cover 2 it will be the corners responsibility because they have flats responsibility in cover 2 however cover 3 will require that a DE makes the play because they will drop into a hook zone if cover 3. Do you need a diagram or do you understand?

no, our LB's had to fill gaps just like they did last year.  they just have different gaps to get crushed in now.  hopefully this year though our DL will require more than just one on one blocking and it will help keep blockers away from our LBs.

plus when we were in the 3-4 the two outside LBs were basically 1-3 yards off the LOS outside the tackles leaving the remaining two LBs on an island.  having the extra guy in the secondary in the 4-2-5 will hopefully minimize the 20+ yard gains we saw a lot last year.

Where does the third safety go in cover 2?  Rather, where the he!! does he line-up and go most of the time?  Is he like a LB hybrid?

That Ginger walk-on LB had 19 tackles yesterday, he was pretty good last year relative to those Eleileielie LB's with pony tails who looked like they needed a compass to find the guy with the ball.  He at least had the intensity to play defense in college.

I think your diagram would be wrong
In cover 3 the Strong Safeties / Outside LB (whatever you want to call them) would have curl to flats.  D-Ends have no coverage responsibility except if their is zone pressure and dropping.

We have potentially the best LB in the Big12.  He's just playing WR.

Dold has been working primarily with the safeties and did not play because of an injured  shoulder thanks to Jerrel Childs trucking him during practice.
