Snyder were to come back as HC, an idea that I personally can get no more than  :blank: about.

What would be your dream (realistic) staff??

Plus, under what conditions??  He can coach as long as he wants?? Or just for 2 or 3 years with a named successor right out of the gate??

You can't be racist and like basketball.
The only dream (realistic) staff I can imagine is a complete nightmare.

The scenario that's still a nightmare, but less of one, is Bill being BV's OC.

    Fear the Brick
Dream Scenario (and pretty much the only way I won't complain endlessly about Snyder coming back):

Old Balls - HC
BV - DC (head coach in waiting, takes over after year 2, possibly 1)
Daryl Wyatt - OC

...give BV and DW 2 years to recruit their dreamy buns off and we have a chance.

Reality Scenario:

Old Balls - HC
Dana Dimel - OC
Vic K - DC

and I think Vic K would be pushing the reality scenario.

    The very best.
disregard my previous "ok" of bringing back synder. forget the fact no one would want to be on a staff that would be gone in 4 yearst tops.

thx. -fats
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Mark Stoops was mentioned, too, which is probably less :flush: -y and more :users: -y.

Honest Q:

When was the last time a passing of the torch ended up being a success? (I think Beilema is still a ? at this point in time, but you may disagree).

I guess it depends on your definition of passing the torch.  HC's are often hired away and coordinators are promoted.  I believe Utah and Boise have had this happen recently with good success.  This happened with GP when Fran left.  So, promoting coordinators can be very good if your coach leaves because he is successful and is hired away.  In this case, Coach Snyder certainly knows how to coach, it is just choosing the successor and executing the plan.  I think most people would be on board with Venables as DC/ HC in waiting.  I don't really have a strong opinion on OC but I would think Chuck Long will likely get play if he is available...and could also be a HC in waiting because Snyder I think, believes in him.  The time window is difficult.  I would think it needs to be about a 4 yr time frame.  I believe this gives them time to stabilize the program and get the heir properly acclimated.  Now, would either of these asst's be willing to wait that long?  I kind of doubt it, although maybe the realization that anywhere else they go they probaby have to pay some dues still (MAC, etc.) for 2-4 yrs to get a shot back at a BCS program might make them feel good about having that in their pocket already.  Given that, what happens if this plan happens...and the Cats don't win in this time frame?  Succession plan still executed???  That is the major risk.
