THIS WEEK'S NOMINEES

Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State:  Quarterbacks usually do their damage with their arm, but Freeman used his feet to run for 95 yards and four touchowns. The junior also was 21-of-26 for 234 yards as the Wildcats took down Texas A&M 44-30.

Chase Holbrook, QB, New Mexico State: It took an outstanding performance by the signal caller for the Aggies to win their first season opener in the WAC. Holbrook completed 28 of 47 passes for 409 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a score as NMSU bested Nevada 48-45.

Collin Mooney, RB, Army: It was a career-best day for the senior fullback, who piled up 229 yards on the ground on 29 carries as the Black Knights celebrated Homecoming by running past Eastern Michigan 17-13.

Nick Moore, WR, Toledo: A big effort in the Big House carried the Rockets past Michigan. Moore set a school record with 20 pass receptions totaling 162 yards in a 13-10 victory that was the Wolverines' first loss to a MAC team.

Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas: The Longhorns took down No. 1 Oklahoma with the help of their senior wide receiver. Shipley had 11 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown and a 96-yard kickoff return for a score in a 45-35 defeat of the Sooners in Dallas.

Willie VanDeSteeg, DL, Minnesota: The senior defensive lineman had three sacks and forced a fumble that led to a touchdown. VanDeSteeg also recorded five tackles in the Golden Gophers' 27-20 upset win at Illinois.
