I haven't seen the game so I can't comment on the QB's perfomance directly but anytime you have problems rushing the ball like we did its going to make it much more difficult to throw the ball.

In a WCO-style offense the pass sets up the run not the other way around.  If you have a line that can pass block for 3+ seconds (check), receivers who aren't dropping many balls (check), RB(s) who can pick up a blitz (sort of check), and an even remotely decent QB (big &*$@!in' red X here) those sorts of schemes can work, if not they won't.  This type of offense starts and ends with a QB who can run it ... we don't have one.

If we were running a "true" WCO and trying to set up the run with the pass don't you think we would have passed the ball more than we ran it?  If you complete 58% of your passes, shouldn't that set up a little bit of a run game?  Do we need to complete 80%?

Maybe, just maybe, the failure of the offense is not all Meier's fault.

Joe Dailey had games where he completed 25% of his passes and threw 4 INTs and NU never rushed for worse than 2 yards per carry.

I don't think he's fantastic, but he is acceptable.  My point is that our problems lie elsewhere.

The one thing I missed watching the Passport replay was QB run game and how effective it would have been against ISU.   We could have scored had that threat been there.  I know we don't have a great FB, but even a semi-good one would have taken pressure off the passing game and allowed us to have a greater impact.   As much as we understood the option with Snyder, in this game, we'd have scored on offense with it.

No TDs and two INTs is "acceptable" against a I-AA defense?  Having the #72 passing offense is "acceptable"?  Being 90th ranked I-A team in passing efficiency is "acceptable" (Meier is #80 in the individual category)?   Keep in mind that all of those "acceptable" performances were against a I-AA defense.  They may improve somewhat next Saturday but it will be fool's gold because they'll nosedive thereafter.  Those are some mightly low standards.

None of those are even remotely acceptable in my book, even worse when you consider the competition.
