So I went over to the tournament to check in with Neal and Marty ...

Where I was standing, I was about 8-10 feet from Coach Martin.

I actually waited about 20 minutes for the game to finish that he was watching, and then introduced myself to him.

I wished him and good luck and said thanks for making the rivalry interesting again.

He kinda gave me a strange look at first, since I was wearing Kansas garb!  :D

He's a pretty nice guy, that was cool that he took a moment to talk to me ...

I also saw Coach Pat Knight, Coach Mike Anderson, the Oklahoma coach, and possibly the Nebraska coach. But they weren't close enough to speak with.

***

Neal and Marty are broadcasting from some national high school basketball tournament in western Johnson county and Coach there checking out some players ...

he mentioned visiting with some guy that had already signed, but I didn't quite catch the name, and is just talking about the recruiting process in general ...

I assume you mean this tournament:

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/basketball/story/722945.html

There shouldn't be any players that we have signed there.  The only highschool player that has signed plays for the NY Gauchos, who are currently in Orlando I believe.  We do have a handful of players that we are recruiting there however.  Reid, Clark, Spradling, Dixon, Baltic and Barnes have all been linked to K-State at one time or another.

did he have any blood on his hands?  clothes?

was he working the door at the tourney?

how tall?  did he smell good?  clothes fit?  was he drinking diet pepsi?

was his hair gelled, greasy, or dry?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

No, but his shoes were white with purple accents

No.

A little taller than me and really broad shoulders, looks almost more like a football player. He was wearing a white KSU polo, I did not see him drinking anything. Also, I did not notice his "smell," all I could smell was popcorn ...

was his hair gelled, greasy, or dry?

This I did notice, dry surprisingly ...

well ...

I just thought I'd do something positive on this board for a change, guess my electrons were wasted.

You know what's funny, I've never even met Coach Self, yet here I had the chance to meet Coach Martin.

Maybe if some of you all put more effort into supporting your own team as opposed to insulting another team then you'd have a much more rewarding fan experience!

That or it's back to moonshining and crop dusting again ...

no one here is insulting anyone else.  we take too much pride in self-deprecation.

That was crap.  I've met Roy, even had a picture from bball camp (I grew up in Lawrence, sorry dudes.) on my desk.  And I saw Self at Quentin's last time I was there.  But you don't see me over at the phog fellating  everyone about either experience.  Martin is a nice guy.  But that comes as no surprise to me.  A majority of good coaches are.

so let's recap.  you tried to use a science reference.  you got it wrong.  and then you made assumptions about our employment, which has nothing to do with putting more effort into school spirit/supporting our teams (what i assumed was the point of your post).  correct?

I met Martin outside of the Kat House (?) in aggieville one time.  I told him that purple sucked and that he should go back to Mexico.  My typing skillz suck now.

And electrons are used in pretty much everything, fyi.

HA!

that was unintentional ... positive as in, not fark with anybody, and just to say that despite being a colossal prick on this board, that doesn't mean that I'm that way when I have a chance to meet a representative of your University.

Electrons on the Web as opposed to Ink in a newspaper ...

Who said anything about employment, I was thinking more along the lines of your hobbies. I didn't even bring up the obvious animal husbandry references ...

So, uh ... yeah.
