EAST LANSING – Junction City  (KS) High School offensive tackle Justin Aumen is in the midst of a long stretch of one-day stops at schools throughout the Midwest.

Aumen was in East Lansing on Saturday to take part in Michigan State's offensive line/defensive line camp which ran simultaneously with the Spartans' 7-on-7 passing camp. The Junction City standout was one of the top performers out of a group of nearly 100 big men on campus for Saturday's camp.

SpartanMag.com caught up with Aumen following Saturday's camp session to see how things went with the 6-foot-4 285-pounder from Kansas.

"I had a good time up here," said Aumen. "I liked working with coaching staff and I was able to get a lot of face time with my recruiting coach Mark Staten. Coach Staten is a real good guy and I enjoyed working with him today."

Aumen also enjoyed going up against some of the camp's top defensive linemen.

"I don't remember any names, but there were a lot of good defensive linemen up here and I got tested really well. I had fun today."
Aumen is still looking for his first scholarship offer, but the Junction City star believes it is only a matter of time before offers come.

"Most of the schools recruiting me say that I can get an offer by coming to camp and getting some good senior film," explained Aumen. "I came up here to show Michigan State what I've got and to put on a show for the coaches. I am happy with the way I played."

Michigan State is impressed with the way Aumen carries himself on the football field and the intensity with which he plays the game.

"I was talking with coach Staten a week or so ago and he said that he really likes my aggressiveness and the way that I get off the ball," said Aumen. "He also said he likes the way I get into people when I play."

A left tackle in high school, Aumen will likely play guard at the next level.

"Most of the schools recruiting me see me as an interior lineman," said Aumen. "I play left tackle in high school, but I am not the cookie cutter 6-foot-7, 280 pound tackle. I will go wherever I am needed. I take some pride in my versatility."

Aumen estimates that he has been to five or six one-day camps in June and he plans on taking more trips in July, although he hasn't yet set any dates for his July itinerary.
