I'm too lazy to post right now....so here is what I posted over there...........

In front of a jammed packed 1,400 fans at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka tonight.......Coach Huggins showed why he is a fan favorite.

Told great stories and had the crowd in the palm of his hand. In fact normally the event ends at around 9pm.....and tonight it went about 20 minutes late.....but nobody left early.

By the way.....Kevin Lockett spoke before Huggins and blew me away. He was interesting...also told good stories, and was fun to listen to.

Coach Hugs even commented about it, and said he wanted Kevin to be at his next speaking engagement.

Also Bill Snyder was there and signed his book for 2 and half hours and was invited up to the podium to speak for awhile and received 2 standing ovations.

He says he has been to more plays...more softball games, and more little league baseball games than he thought was possible. But has enjoyed every minute of it. Said he has went on vacations with his family to places like Florida and California....and a favorite lake in Iowa. He said he even went parachuting. WOW

It was pretty good, Kevin Lockett was a really good speaker in place of Prince. He had a very positive outlook on the season, and said change was good for everyone. Huggins was great, really funny, much more relaxed speaking to fans than the media.  After the speakers were done, we went over and shook Huggy's hand, wished him luck for the season and told him we had already renewed our season tickets. 
I'll be really happy when he starts telling stories about K-State teams vs Cinci...
The only disappointing thing were the live auction items didn't go as high as I expected, in previous years some game type things (seats in the press box) went really high, this year they were pretty low by comparison, and there weren't any "guest b-ball coaching" deals.  I almost forgot, there were no current student ath. that spoke at all.

I've been really impressed with Kevin Lockett's commitment to K-State.  His Lockett-Up Scholarship Athlete tutoring program in the library is all out of pocket and now he's going to be on campus working with Snyder in the Leadership Dept.  My girlfriend's office is right next door to theirs so she is going to get spoiled next year with me dropping by lunch and flowers and showing up to give her a quick kiss and then stalk Billy and Kevin.

Damn I'm weird.

In relating how his 2000 Cincinnati squad rallied from a 17-point deficit against DePaul in front of a national television audience, he recalled instructing his players to make certain All-American Kenyon Martin touched the ball before they attempted a shot. Anyone who didn't heed the advice would be relegated to the bench. Forever.

The ploy worked perfectly ... to a point, anyway. With Martin playing what Huggins called "the greatest four minutes I've ever seen anybody play," the Bearcats tied the game, stole the ball during the waning seconds and fed to DeMarr Johnson, who was all alone just 12 feet from the basket.

Johnson eventually made the game-winner, but not before standing frozen for what seemed like an eternity. Afterward, Huggins asked Johnson to explain his seemingly inexplicable pause.

"I said, 'D.J, I gotta know (what you were thinking),'" Huggins said. "He said, 'I want to play, man. I didn't know whether Kenyon had touched it yet or not.'"
