The workout, open to the public and witnessed by several hundred fans, focused on special teams play and also covered individual and team work. First-year head coach Ron Prince was pleased with what he saw from his squad’s first workout.
“I thought it was good, it was fun to get back out on the field,” Prince said. “We as coaches love practice and players love games. When we can get the players to like practice as much as we do, then we are headed in the right direction.”
“I thought the defense ran around and played without thinking and that is what you want to see. Offensively, I thought we lacked a little chemistry but overall it was a good day.”
Kansas State will continue to open selected practices to the public throughout the camp, with next Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. workout next on the schedule. The Wildcats open the 2006 season September 2 against Illinois State. Kickoff is set for 6:10 p.m. inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
