You can't be racist and like basketball.
It's pretty obvious Freeman has been annointed the chosen one, and it really makes the most sense to start him now if we're going to run off every able-bodied QB we can.  I want Freeman to start from day one...&@#% this season.

Do people not want to think Prince promised Golden Boy (Golden Boy Josh Freeman) the starting job to lure him away from Nebraska, and that Freeman starting means that's how it went down?

I'm confused here.

    The very best.
Prince: "Raheem...who's the toughest QB to defend? Dylan or Josh?"

Raheem: "Ba bu ba bu ba bu ba bu"

Prince: "Ha ha ha ha. You're so cute"
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

    THE b IS NOT CAPITALIZED
Meier is only going to play until Freeman is ready. After that he is on jock strap washing duty.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Excellent point.  I've been wondering this myself.  I'm leaning toward believing that Freeman will start for most of the year given that he'll almost certainly burn a year of eligibility one way or another.  As someone else pointed out, this season would be...well, in the tank.  I could be wrong.

In the first couple of non con games........both QB's will probably play half the game.

Freeman needs in there to get some experience since he will playing this year.

Meier needs in there because he hasn't played a Div I game since 2005.

They both need reps.

So who starts the first 2 games really doesnt matter.

Now who starts by the Louisville game or conference season......

Stay tuned.

I was being facetious with the recruiting angle, but I'm on board with the idea of tanking this season in order to get Freeman ready earlier in his career.

i honestly think that getting to 6 wins and a bowl game is just as important as developing freeman.  i'd probably do it like mizzou did last season and give meier the starts and sprinkle in freeman whenever you can.  i dont like the idea of tanking the season until its beyond repair.

F%k tanking the season.  This offense is not going to be great (whoever is QB).  I want JF on the field, but if DM is outperforming him on the field, then JF is just gonna have to see spot action.

Our defense has the ability to become top 25.  The DL needs to be more disruptive, but I love our LBs and our depth in the sec. has me feeling good too.

There are 4 even teams in the North with ISU being just a notch above those 4.  We have a nice conf schedule and i think we have a 65% chance to beat either NU or UL (prob. the fuskers)

This team is very capable of winning 7 games.   Not going to a bowl would be a big blow for recruiting and because of the extra 3-4 weeks of practice it gives everyone

I should have said that I'm in favor of playing Golden Boy and accepting the corresponding risk of potentially tanking the season.  If we can make it to a bowl, we can probably do it with either Meier or Freeman.  Meier was, at best, a mediocre QB prior to a serious shoulder injury.  He certainly doesn't have what it takes to carry the rest of the team on his back.

Experience or not, H(ippie)DM can't be considerably better than Golden Boy.

I say get GB as many reps as soon as possible in games so he'll be as prepared as possible for Marshall and Louisville.

There is zero chance that any of five QBs from last spring would make an all-conference team in 2006.  You're basically guaging between different levels of mediocrity with them.  Even if Freeman starts off slow like he should, and worse than Meier, he will eventually start to get the hang of things provided that we stick with him.  And it just so happens that one of the things Prince has repeatedly said that I think he is, in fact, deeply committed to in every possible sense is that he wants a clear #1 QB.  Is Prince really going to start Dylan for a few games only to later make Freeman #1?
