I just called the Sprint Center box office, and they said that the Spring Center Management is now hinting that they may have an indoor beer garden of some kind.  They are "contemplating this currently."  The person I spoke with implied that this is being negotiated with the Big 12.

The Big 12 conference won't let them allow people to have beer at their seats, but may compromise on this beer garden idea.  They said that if this occurred, you'd be able to drink in this special area, but not take it back to your seats.  They said it hasn't been finalized, but would expect it to be available at a charge....seemed to suggest that they would expand the existing "Founder's Club" deal to include anyone who wanted to buck up.  No word on how much.

I ask you this....How is one suppose to handle a game like CU vs. BU without beer?

I tried a few lines of questioning with them, that included this, but all they'd say is that the Big 12 is dictating the the no beer thing at this event.  Wouldn't comment on "other" events.  BS IMO.

I encourage everyone to be selective when picking out pint and half-pint bottles...be sure to purchase only those with plastic lids.  They use metal detectors at the Sprint Center.

As a result of this, there may be more fall-down drunks in the Sprint Center than if they would have just allowed beer.  A typical result when quasi-authority entities attempt to force their rules upon the masses.

the issue with the B12 isn't one of being able to drink or not, no one within the b12 offices cares if you drink responsibly.  the big 12 just doesn't want its name next to the activity at one of it's sporting events.  it's really not that big of a deal, the P&L is filled with bars, what makes you think you have to sit in your seat through the CU-BU match-up anyways?

Last year at OKC, there were several rumors going around about whether it was the conference, the city or the state that wasn't allowing beer.  It totally screwed me up.  We'd go to Bricktown and pound about 5 beers before and in between sessions, then the buzz would wear off by the start of the 2nd game of the session, we'd crash, then repeat.  We were all immediately anti-OKC.  Especially when you'd have to watch all the Soc's in the club level with their wine & cheese.  I mean, at least have the common courtesy to drink behind the glass.

Dallas was sooooo much better.  If it is, in fact, the conference dictating it, then it's because of the dumbass Mizzou fans who were completely obnoxious in 2003.

I believe the last conference "championship" to sell beer was the last tournament at Kemper...2005.

Wouldn't a relatively low alc content cause a liquid to have a higher freezing point?  Ex.- vodka, bourbon, gin, etc. in a standard household freezer will basically never freeze entirely, yet beer will freeze in a few hours.  Maybe I just misunderstood the question.  My beer didn't freeze before I checked this board.
