Interesting comments from Jerry Palm, "bracketologist" from CollegeRPI.com, on what the Cats need to do to make the NCAA Tournament. He basically said as long as we don't "lose out" we'll be in. Also.....A win over ku makes us a lock. Basically he wants us to win 2 out of 3 but 1 out of 3 would work as long as that 1 is ku. He has us as a #7 seed right now.

Not to mention the fact that this isn't even the Official Jerry Palm thread. :nono:

We're in unless we lose-out?  OR...we need to win 2 of 3 - or one of 3 if that one is ku?

Major logic break here boss.

A loss to Colorado and Iowa State gives ammo to the Arkansas and the Stanfords just waiting to &@#% us over with a mediocre tourney resume just like last year.

We can't lose to ISU on the road. Can't happen and get an invite. A win in the Big XII Tourney would be nice as well but if we face Nebraska or Tech in the quarter final we have a shot.

It can, and it probably will (lose and still get in).

2007 (36), 2006 (21, LOL), and 2000 (34).

Hofstra was 30 in 2006 and Kent St. was 36 in 2000.

Wasn't it just last year that the criteria of finishing with 10 or more conference wins in a power conference and getting a buy in said conference's tourney had always qualified as a team for the tourney?  That was until K-State did it last year.  I don't want to fall for that "shoe-in" criteria again.
Show me defense.

Yeah, I forgot the BCS part.  Several inflated mid-majors got left out.

Looking back realistically, we way overplayed the 10 win thing.  Its not like the Big 12 acted like a major conference.  And we had some pretty ugly marks on our resume.  9-7 this year would be better than our 10-6 last year.

Syracuse had 10 conference wins and didn't get in either.  The Big East had a #5 overall conference RPI last year.  Conversely, a 18-12 (7-9) Arkansas team that won 3 games in their tournament to push their overall record to 21-13, got in with the SEC's conference RPI at #2 overall.  Vanderbilt was 19-10 (10-6) then lost in the first round of the SEC tourney (to Ark) and got in.

If KSU wants to ensure that it gets in, win against CU and @ISU....if it wants to worry, split those games and try to win one in the Big 12 tourney and hope that those scrub league leaders win their tourneys.

KSU exists to buck such trends.

If we can't beat a crapty Iowa State team on the road...we'll limp into the Big XII tourney anyhow...and probably be one and done.

Just tellin' it like it is.

I think we can win up in Hilton...depends how we look tommorrow night.  :eyeseeyou:

How we play tomorrow night will have NOTHING to do with how we play in Hilton, and it's dumb (even for you) to suggest that.
