"Just one thing.  The playbook is not more complicated.  Again, playbook less complicated"

that isn't what the players are saying

Oh God.  Here we go with the NU fan telling us about our program he knows little about.   That statement has no meaning since you really haven't shown what players have said that.

generally the wco playbook is considered the most complicated...while its been told bill snyder had the biggest playbook in college football, its pretty clear, especially the last few years, that very little of it got used.  i think they really dumbed it down for webb...to just a simple read and react into a few set plays.

"Name one 4 star recruit that verballed with a KSU before June and actually committed.  Name one.  Count Juco's if you want even though no one would really consider them a true 4 star.  Face it - the meat of this recruiting class won't likely come until OCT-JAN."

incase you have been sleeping or smoking dope or something that makes you oblivious to reality Prince is not Snyder.  It's pretty obvious to everyone that Prince has a different style of recruiting than Snyder did.  Infact, you probaly don't know this but Princes whole plan is to have 20 commits by the end of July.

as far as how we are recruiting I think it's awesome.  You absolutely need to offer alot of kids and offer them soon.  I think it would be great to have almost the entire class wrapped up before october or november.  then you can start recruiting for the next class and the 08 class as well.  I recently read a recruiting update where one  teams coaches were at a practice scouting some kids and so were a bunch of texas coaches.  the  coach went over and asked the texas coaches what are you guys doing scouting, aren't you almost all filled up?  the Ut coaches said he was right, they are almost full, but they are out scouting sophmores.

that is absolutely where we need to be in a couple years.  you can't expect top notch level recruiting out of this staff so soon, geographically they are new to the area and new faces take a while to make their mark and earn a repuatation with highschool coaches but recruiting like that should absolutely be the standard we strive for.  Now I know we will never get texas talent, but we can follow how they do it and still get great kids and win alot of games.

It seems like you are changing your stance on things alot. First you were bagging on Prince and now you are saying it's not his fault  Snyder never did that. He filled his class up late. Snyder was just lucky that it worked out for him. I think Prince might eventually do that if his recruits this year pan out and give kansas state success. Huggins does it all of the time. So we'll see how Prince's team will turn out.

On another note... Cobra when you initially heard about the Prince hire, were you happy or sad for us?

I think Snyder had an advantage that allowed him to not have to recruit 24/7 and that was the offense he ran.  He wasn't going up against alot of the big name teams for the big name guys and he had an excellent Juco connection that nobody else really had any handle on and he milked that juco connection for all it was worth.  Now we got a guy in the mix of things who is going to run a pro style offense at KSU.  OK, thats fine.  but he will be having to fight for the same recruits that FSU, NU, texs, USc and all whole laundry list of schools want.  We don't have the Juco connection that we used to have anymore and that is a good thing and a bad thing depending upon which camp your in.  But, because we are now going after a different type of athlete and fighting more schools for them we will have to work harder then them.   We will have to recruit harder and better because we have many disadvantages in recruiting and recruiting pro style players.

as for was I mad or happy when Princes name was announced.  I was neither, I didn't really know who he was.  But I guess when your school is only willing to drop $750,000 for a new HC you don't always get a big name guy.  I wish they would have made a more concerted effort and Venables but Snyder didn't want that and I guess you couldn't land him for under 7 figure anyway.  Like I siad, not happy/mad just curious as to who he was and what he was about.  Do I think he can coach?  heck yeah I do but will that be enough at KSU?  will he be able to recruit the level of talent needed to run the ofense he wants and win?  so far I am thouroughly unimpressed with the quality of our class.  The quantity I love, the effort I like but I think, and I think it's reasonable that we have taken to many kids that we could have gotten in december/January.  I think prince may have under estimated how difficult it would be to get kids to come to Manhattan.  So, he will need to adjust a couple things, change things up and keep going.

Bottom line...  It's freak'n July and already most people are rolling out the sh1t colored carpet for another losing season because it isn't how "they" would do it.  Before you call me a sunshine pumper realize that I have never said anything about how Coach Prince is going to change the face of College Football. All I've done is try to dispel any notions of failure and remain positive knowing that anything that goes on from now through September is speculation.  And we will all have our definite answers and opinions in two years.

My honest opinion on all of the negative attitudes around here is just an early dig on being able to say "told ya so".  I don't know... maybe you guys need that in your life to feel better about how much you suck at everything else. Enjoy your pathetic lives and I'll enjoy knowing that I and many other KSU fans were supportive and optimistic of our team and in no way resembled the things I hate about college fans that boo and throw things at their own team.  Like Colorado.  Or even those jerks that yelled “Darren Sproles, You Suck” after a bad game in ‘04.  You guys make me sick and its times like those that I’m ashamed of KSU fans.
