I repeat -- JuJU will be the best 6'6" 210 lb NBA power forward who can't bench 180lbs and who has no outside game at all.

Julian Wright is Tayshaun Prince without the 3-point range.  He'll be a very good pro.
Actually, he's Tayshaun Prince without the 3-point range, the 2-point range, and 3 inches (6'6" vs. 6'9"). hth.  He'll never make it as a pro.

Serious question for ku fan- is his lack of physical development more a reflection on JuJu or your strength and conditioning program?

Who cares? Julian was a great player for us. Last time I checked they didn't decide who wins on what team can bench the most. This is basketball. Not football.
Now you're saying the NBA doesn't know what they're doing when they test their potential athlete's strength

I know JuJu was a good player for you guys, this thread is about how he won't be a good player at the next level.

The trainers and Bill saw no need for him to bulk up, so they didn't make him do it. Instead on lifting weights he would be much more productive shooting jumpers or studying.

So you guys are saying that sherron collins will be the best pro to come from ku's team last year, because he had the highest bench on the team(340 i believe).  and have you guys once thought that julians and durants wingspans make it very hard for them to perform the bench press?  they have like 7'3" wingspans.  and steve i wouldnt know how juco is, because i dont go to juco.  i thought you would be at least smart enough to understand that i go to umkc, i have only said it about a billion times.  snart please make a bet,  your dumbass sounds so confident but you seem like too much of a p*ssy to put your money where your mouth is.  $20

seriously, quit comparing durant to wright.  durant can play off the block, wright cannot. he is more dependant upon his size and strength.

so you think that at 6'6" and 211 lbs he has the size to play as an NBA power forward?

No... he has the size to play SF, which is where whoever drafts him will probably play him. You asked if this was a reflection of him or the staff. That would probably be the staff, in that they knew he didn't need it to be a successful college PF.

Apparently they didn't see a need for him to work on his jump shot, either?

ttt as JuJu continues to slide, slide, slide  :banghead:

It's amazing how Walker and Wright have no jumpshots, yet Walker is firmly implanted in the lottery.

In fact, the farther he slides in the draft, the greater ku's chances for a national championship are.

If ku doesn't win the National Championship next year, it's because of the lingering negative impact that Julian Wright had on this year's team.

    It's a nlellephant...
Per Chad Ford's blog:

• On Monday, I thought Julian Wright was slipping, too. He had been struggling with an ankle injury and didn't appear to be gaining traction in the draft.

However, after several phone calls on Monday evening, I think he's still in the picture with Milwaukee at No. 6. Also, the Bulls are considering him at No. 9 and the Kings appear to really like him at No. 10.
If he slips below 10, I think teams will be making a big mistake -- I think he has one of the biggest upsides in the draft. I don't see him getting past the Clippers at No. 14.

Good points on the teams interested in Ju.  His proximity to Lawrence next year will impact how far ku goes in the tournament.  The farther away, the better they do.

Reading in between the lines of what Ford says, it is pretty clear that Bill Self is doing everything he can at this point to distance Wright from the Jayhawk Nation and land him on a team with no hope of winning anything and completely embarass his former Bowlinghawk.

Milwaukee?   that's cruel and unusual punishment, the Bucks will be serving up another helping of last place in 2007/2008.
Chicago?    ya let's put him on a team and into the shadow of the greatest Jayhawk from the last 20 years, very nice of you Self.
Sacramento?   :-[ Mike Bibby, the team's star, lit ku up for 22 in the Great Eight.  JuJu, meet bench, marinate in that Bibby asspounding.

Bill Self is ruthless.

Phog0731-  "The trainers and Bill saw no need for him to bulk up, so they didn't make him do it. Instead on lifting weights he would be much more productive shooting jumpers or studying."

Bulking up and adding strength are not necessarily the same thing.  Oh, and if you play inside, a little bulk can be helpful!

"No... he has the size to play SF, which is where whoever drafts him will probably play him. You asked if this was a reflection of him or the staff. That would probably be the staff, in that they knew he didn't need it to be a successful college PF."

So what you're saying is that they don't have a good weightlifting program and no desire to try and develop the player to the maximum of his ability for success both at the college level...AND AFTER?  No wonder most ku players are busts in the pros.

Oh, and news flash...they determined in the 1970's that lifting weights really can enhance athletic performance.

Von Wafer, Denver Nuggets – Wafer finished with a league record-tying 42 points and a 24.2-point average. He shot the ball well throughout summer league, and proved that he can hit consistently from beyond the arc (hitting at a 44-percent clip). Wafer will be in the NBA next year, especially in light of his ability to extend the defense with his shooting.

I remember getting excited reading about him being the only coach watching him at Kingwood right after Nick Williams left.

No one here is faulting the guy for taking advantage his opportunity.
My thread is really just making fun of ku fans and the infatuation they have with their players.  Feel free to ask K-State fans about our well justified feelings about Michael Beasley and his pro potential.
